Help Picking a New TV

The LG does have FALD dimming. BB had the 9 series side by side with their OLEDS which did the NanoCell no favors. The OLEDS are clearly superior and more expensive.

How big of a factor is having hdmi 2.1? Not many TVs have that and new consoles are right around the corner and will likely support it. I’m tempted by the TCL but fair or not they strike me as a up and coming Vizio: lots of bang for the buck while the durability might be lacking.

HDMI 2.1 isn't a big deal for me.

TCL has been out for years.
The TV brand on west soil is new though.

Buy a warranty if you aren't sure of a brand.

Looking to buy a new AMAZING TV and want to save tons of money?

Go get the Hisense H9F NOW!

I should of waited on my sons TV(the TCL) and got one of these! Wow

I have 55” LG SM9000 getting delivered on Monday. For the same price I it picked over the same size Q70 and the bigger P series quantum. Why?

The over saturated look of Samsung qleds turn me off along with being forced into Sammy’s half assed ecosystem with Bixby and HDR 10+. As for Vizio I don’t trust them and the picture looks great (until it goes) while everything else sucks.

The hisense h9f.... Bro

Hisense is a budget brand that offers bang for the buck. I’m sure that TV punches above it’s weight in picture quality but I have zero doubt corners are cut in the overall package and quality to achieve that. That is basically the Vizio experience. Meanwhile the LG coming my way can push over a thousand nits peak brightness, has the best OS in the industry and is one of the best gaming TVs on the market.

Hisense has terrible reliability. That is why they have to offer more features for less in order to entice consumers.

This LG has a good picture and I find the Ips panel as a strength seeing as though off axis viewing is a reality. Meanwhile the PQ of that Hisense will go to hell if you are not sitting right in front of it and it sounds worse on that TV than others.

Name the last 4K LG LED that was considered the best?
NONE SINCE HDR WAS AVAILABLE

It never happens they are never contenders since the last LG I owned circa 2013(no HDR).

IPS pale greatly in comparison to VA panels and this is why no top LED uses them.

If off screen viewing is what you think is important... buy a OLED.

And Samsung and Sony market enhanced off axis viewing as a premium feature. You have to go the Q80 or higher to get it in the Samsung line.

I have the LG setup and first impressions are:

The screen’s IPS panel does look a dark grey with the lights off. Have some on and a ton of it goes away. Overall it has the same black levels as my old Vizio VA panel and I’m pleased. Blacks are black enough and not a dealbreaker for me.

4k HDR content is definitely hit or miss. Watched Altered Carbon (I think that is what it’s called) on Netflix and that seemed to show it off. That show also has a lot of dark scenes combined with bright, colorful lights. It was impressive.

Games look incredible. It’s a next gen feeling on the panel alone. I can’t wait for new consoles. Trailers for Cyberpunk and Watch Dogs looked next level.

I never did get a 4k TV. Not that I was really that serious. Mostly use my current TV for sports with a few shows and console gaming. Probably would want 4k by next gen. Will have to look into that Hisense though as that is a nice price and I see it has full array.

If you are going to buy one for next gen make sure it has HDMI 2.1

Am moving.... The plan is to put the 75Z9D in the living room and get a 55 or 65 TCL 8 series for the bedroom where my gaming will be.
Movies, ppv events etc will be in the living room.

I just saw an 8k tv on display at BB.
