So what do we need in our TVs to cover next gen? HDMI 2.1 and at least 120hz, anything else?

So what's the diff between a TV with built-in 2.1 and a TV with patched features?

I'm swinging towards a TCL 6 and will finally ditch my 1080p Samsung that I've had for almost ten years. Unless there's something drastic that the next gen consoles will take advantage of, in regards to TVs with 2.1 fully built in, then I'm probably comfortable plopping down a easy 700 for a TCL 6.

Edit: I think the biggest reason why I've held off for so long is that I've never seen a 4K screen. I've got a One X and plenty of digital movies to immediately dive into when I settle on one.

TCL 6 2018/19 and later released 2020 model(could have HDMI 2.1 features)

That one is great for picture quality but lacking in gaming....

Eh I'll be fine. However the delivery date was a bogus one. BB immediately sent me a email to schedule a appointment. Next Thursday was the earliest delivery date. So that gives me plenty of time to think about what you said and drive myself insane. Kudos

Well if you aren't getting a HDMI 2.1 capable TV for next gen... Id go with the 2019 TCL's 6 Series instead which has amazing input lag and SOME HDMI 2.1 features coming via a FW update.

RDR2, RE2 Remake, and MK11 will be the first games I try out on the TV. Mad Max Fury Road will be the first movie I watch on it.

Pretty exhilarating considering I've never seen 4K and HDR.

make sure you have those settings turned on and probably be on the look out for an energy save mode and turn that biz off.

When I first got my Sammy I had the energy mode on and for the longest time I was like dam Xbox 360/OneX and switch are hella dark and suffered a lot of crush. Years later I found out it was a thing...I turned it off and was introduced to a new world of beauty unlike I’ve ever seen. Watched an episode of the gran tour and had my jaw dropped by some of it’s cinematography.

Should be easy to Google recommended settings but if yours are different then feel free to post em.

Just got the call from Best Buy confirming the address and delivery date for Monday.

I started this thread over two years ago. Really glad I waited as long as I did.

Did they give you an update on when yours is coming in..? I’m looking forward to impressions.
A Chinese review of a prototype model is available and it's good enough for me the bad is the delays the good is more sites have the option to preorder now like amazon for example.

If anybody was wondering what I was upgrading from.

So about 11:30 this morning the TV arrived. Got that bad boy on the stand, hooked up the electronics and turned on the TV. To my horrific dismay there was a internal crack.

God hates me right?

Was on hold for about a hour with customer service, feeling extremely sad and depressed. Gave up and called the store directly. Told me to bring it on in for a exchange. Showed up, they took the damaged one, and brought out a replacement which was actually the last one they had.

Another problem. The box was too big to fit in the suv. So they said I should get a refund and then reorder it to have it delivered. Or I could take it out the box and load it into my car but they weren't allowed to touch it if I chose that option. I took fate into my own hands and took it out the box. Took the seven mile journey via the highway, which was completely stupid of me, and made it back home. Didn't take my time at all. Didn't even bother to hook the electronics back up. Put it on the stand and immediately plugged it in.

Now I'm sitting here watching Infinity War in 4K. *cries*
