Help Picking a New TV

So I have a potentially dumb TV question. What’s the deal with calibration settings? If there are more optimum settings, why don’t the sets just ship with them as standard?

I realize people have different viewing areas, but when I see suggested optimal settings they are largely the same, with the exception of bright vs dark rooms settings.

Yeap. Tweaking hdr settings, in-game, has been tedious though.
My picture settings for gaming...

TV brightness: Brighter
Picture mode: Normal
Picture size: Auto

Advanced picture settings:

Picture mode: Normal*(Dark HDR in HDR)
Local contrast: High
Dynamic Contrast: Off
Backlight: 60(MAX in HDR)
Brightness: 50
Contrast: 93
Sharpness: 20
Color: 53
Tint: 0
Color Temperature: Normal
Action Smoothing: Off

LED Motion Clarity: Off

Get the Roku app and it's Settings/Expert picture settings menu:

Costco as well and it's on sale ie cheaper.
Mine FINALLY shipped today.

I wanted to wait for microLED but that looks like it’ll be a couple years.

So I’m really looking at the Sony. But can you just list why you suggest it over an OLED?

Burn in and Robert from Value Electronics who luvs OLED said if you game over 2-3 hours a day OLED isn't for me.
Believe me he wanted to sell me the more expensive OLED but thankfully was honest(hard to find with OLED fanboys)
Organic made
Peak Brightness/ABL is low and HDR is getting brighter and brighter.
Crushed blacks ie things don't show up or are harder to see.
LG I don't like them and yes I had bad experiences with them.

Waiting for this TV had me considering all types of options.

I stopped by Costco today, and they had the 85” Sony 900H on display (The Costco version is the 90CH, but I think it’s the same thing..?)

Anyways, it looked great. Much brighter than the surrounding sets, and looked sharper too.
I’m waiting for Black Friday....might have to grab one.

BF will probably be a similar price.
The Costco model is the same.

Dude, my order got canceled, that’s like the third time Best Buy cancels something on me after I purchased it online...first a power pack, than a game and now the tv >,< not sure I wanna buy it again, but at least I kept the points lol

I haven't heard a bad thing about the newer range of OLEDs especially the B9 and C9.

The TV's run an automatic pixel refresher after you use it and can also dim static elements like the HUD etc.

The C9 is easily one of the best pictures I've seen, I'm still hesitant to drop all that money on an OLED regardless as there is always a chance.

I'm thinking of not selling my current TV and use it as a movie/casual TV to not just thrash one TV.

It's inherited to the organic based tech.
Not going to post the various threads with pictures and videos that show it's still very much prevalent.
The pixel refreshers help reduce the risk but the risk is still there and using it reduces the life of the display.

OLED's give a gorgeous all angle viewing experience.
But are nowhere near bright enough,ABL is a issue, losing details in dark scenes/black crush and the image always seems to soft in comparison to FALD LED TV's.

He’s a known fud spreader of OLED. I own a C6 and C8 and no burn in. OLEDs are amazing, best TVs you can buy.
