Help Picking a New TV

Care to elaborate? I've always thought LGs looked excellent for the price.

I wouldn’t let his opinion sway you, look at the TV shootouts and the pro calibrators on YouTube. LG OLEDs are always amongst the top TVs of the year. Just as good as the Sony’s but with more features (HDMI 2.1) for a cheaper price.

VaLLiancE Have you decided on the best settings for the 900H yet? My buddy just got one on sale and has been looking for recommended settings.

I'm rocking these right now.

Picture Mode < Game >
Auto Picture < On >
Light Sensor < Off >

Brightness 28 SDR(100 HDR)
Contrast 90
Gamma 0
Black Level 50
Black Adjust Off
Advanced Contrast Enhancer Off
Auto Local Dimming High
X-tended Dynamic Range Low SDR (High HDR)

Color 58-60
Color Temp Neutral
Live Color Off

Clarity
Sharpness 50
Reality Creation Off

Motion EVERYTHING Off/Disabled

Video signal ALL Auto

Adv. color adjustment ALL Default

Finally go in the Audio Output Settings and Turn OFF A/V sync as it can add odd input lag issues.

I'm guessing TCL 65R625 won't be getting VRR?

Only thing I could find that was recent. Never even heard of this site.

hmm it seems that way

Highlights...

Things I like about the 900h

- colours
- vibrant and bright af when the lights low or off
- smooth

Things I don’t like

- Viewing angle sucks when compared to my old Sammy when up close
- slight vignette at the corners, Sammy has it too but not as noticeable but probably because it’s smaller

Other stuff

- Menu be quick and snappy and you can get rid of all the apps
- the plastic stickers are such high quality, and why are there so many, so much static electricity and zaps I got whilst removing them lol

If I were a fanboi
- why is there no built in rechargeable battery in the remote, did 2020 cancel them?
- no haptics, dualsense or touchpad, huge disappointment

That’s it for now, haven’t used it more than like under an hour lol

I am thinking about upgrading my setup. I am mighty tempted by the LG CX 48 inch as my space is limited. between the doorway to my room and the bathroom doorway there is about 45 inches of space, if you include the door frame. No including the door frame, it is 42 inches which the CX would fit perfectly.

But then I am a cheap ass. I have a hard time convincging myself to spend $1,450.00 on a TV haha.

Really disappointed that TCL removed the 43inch Series 5 for their 2020 line up.

Can grab the 2019 Series 5 for $300.00 bucks at best buy.

But then I want to take full advantage of my Series X and that takes me back to the CX.

1st world problems haha.

Pick the HDMI 2.1 model

More apps than what?

oh I might be mixing it up, but some models don’t have some of the newer apps, like Disney+, because they didn’t get the license for it. So it’s not native/pre-installed and you can’t download until they get the license. But it really doesn’t matter if you’re using a console. That’s why I got rid of every additional app on the 900h. It’s only gonna be used for gaming or movies via the ps4 and soon ps5.

Oh, is there an option if I turn on one it’ll turn on both at once?

yep...like on my Sammy, if I turn on my Xbox or switch it’ll turn on and the tv as well and it’ll switch to its designated port... sometimes it’s an annoyance cos I’ll turn on the tv and turn the other on when I just want to stream news on the YouTube app lol

k lol

if I were to turn on my ps4 would it then in turn turn on the tv at the same time (hopefully go directly to the loading screen instead of the Android tv menu)?

On my Sony TV if I turn on my controller it turns the TV on straight into the PS4 menu even if I was on Netflix or anything previously, thought it was a standard default setting.
