Help Picking a New TV

Got mine last night. Doesn't look like it includes VRR yet which I would probably use more than 4k@120 at least until next-gen games really made sense to run at that framerate. Then again I've never had a display over 75hz so maybe once I see 120 I'll change my mind.

Also does anyone know if the 900 is 10-bit or 12-bit? I have my Xbox set to 12-bit and notice both on that and the PS4 that when viewing HDMI signal on my receiver's settings that it shows 12-bit pixel depth. However a recently article I read mentioned not much supported 12-bit? Maybe it was an old article and I missed the date...

It's 10 bit but can do 12 bit downsampling.

I'm rocking these right now.

Picture Mode < Game >
Auto Picture < On >
Light Sensor < Off >

Brightness 28 SDR(100 HDR)
Contrast 90
Gamma 0
Black Level 50
Black Adjust Off
Advanced Contrast Enhancer Off
Auto Local Dimming High
X-tended Dynamic Range Low SDR (High HDR)

Color 58-60
Color Temp Neutral
Live Color Off

Clarity
Sharpness 50
Reality Creation Off

Motion EVERYTHING Off/Disabled

Video signal ALL Auto

Adv. color adjustment ALL Default

Finally go in the Audio Output Settings and Turn OFF A/V sync as it can add odd input lag issues.
Have you messed with the Adv color adjustment at all? I know places like Rtings have done it but it's my understanding it all depends on each TV. I imagine you need software anyways to actually do it so haven't bothered. Otherwise pretty close to same settings as you. I do have Color Temp at Warm as that is what I was used to on my plasma, but I think it makes it a bit too warm compared to what I remember on the plasma.

The game settings don't need advanced color adjustments.
Most of these sites go for a warm or warmer color settings which is not accurate for gaming.

VaLLiancE Any thoughts on the mini-LEDs coming next year? Does Samsung have good processing?

According to market analysis firm TrendForce, Samsung will launch its new QLED TV lineup with Mini-LED backlighting technology in 2021. The lineup is expected to feature 4K resolution and consist of TVs in 55-inch, 65-inch, 75-inch, and 85-inch sizes. Thanks to Mini-LED backlighting, the TVs are expected to offer a contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1, which is significantly higher than 10,000:1 that the current-generation TVs offer. Such a high contrast ratio could be attained by implementing at least 100 local dimming zones and using anywhere between 8,000 to 30,000 high-voltage Mini-LED chips.

Samsung’s upcoming lineup of Mini-LED-powered QLED TVs is expected to offer higher brightness, high contrast ratio, and better HDR and WCG (wide color gamut) performance. Currently, Apex, Epistar, FitTech, Macroblock, San’an Optoelectronics, and Saultech are racing to offer their Mini-LED chips to Samsung, but their solutions are currently in the sampling stage.
Mini-LED displays not only offer significantly better image quality than LCDs, but they are also known to be more cost-effective compared to OLEDs. Hence, the adoption of Mini-LED and microLED is expected to rise over the next few years. Apple is expected to launch an iPad Pro with a Mini-LED-based display later this year. Even LG could debut its Mini-LED TVs next year.

Definitely keep a eye on it.

Just keep in mind no Dolby Vision support.

LG on the other hand sux imo so I could care less.

Anyone with the X900H have any issues post HDMI 2.1 update? So the next day after updating, it started up like it had to do a clean boot and not from sleep. That only happened once so wasn't sure if maybe a power flicker or something? The bigger issue is the device will not start up from sleep. I can see the light at the bottom flash when I hit buttons on the remote but nothing. Have had to either unplug it or I believe hold power button to force a shutdown/restart. On Reddit someone posted it could be a bug and while I've only had a chance to test it one day it may have helped. In Settings there is a section for Remotes and Accessories and then RS232C control. They suggested changing it off of HDMI. Might also be why I started noticing my AVR randomly turning on...

My issue is the wifi randomly turning off and you can't turn it back on. I have to unplug it to get it to reset. There is a thread on reddit with other people having this same issue. Luckily I have only had to do it once since the update.

Maybe not

I'm not sure worries over the Sony's 4k will be something that will matter much to me. I don't anticipate many games this gen being 4k/120 anyways. Maybe 1440/120 or 4k/60 which is honestly fine with me. Also people saying maybe more of an issue on PC than console anyways. Either way I paid under a grand for my TV. the Samsung Q80T I think was almost $1400 at the time and the LG a bit more. At that point it's like a free console anyways so whatever.
