When I bought physical games I always pre-ordered but now that I've gone all digital I often times wait until the day before they start pre loading, there is no real rush now.
I still tend to buy physical for the most part, still never understood why people would pre-order after just the announcement of a game existing. Kind of annoyed seeing that there is only like 1 or 2 editions of the game that come with an actual disc. Might go digital on this one I guess since options otherwise are so limited.

I used to pre order physical because there were times (mostly in the past) where every game they got in was spoken for so I had to wait.

$89.99 for launch edition at Amazon is a rip off when GS has it for $69.99.

Good on them to admit their wrongdoing. Free PS4 to PS5 upgrade for HFW! Just preordered the PS4 edition on Amazon just in case they all get sold out once this news gets out 🤣

This will somehow still be spun by toxic Xbox fans in some form or another.

At least there's some form of upgrade path now.

IMO they had to reverse their decision on Horizon. Otherwise Jim Ryan comes off as a straight up liar.

Still wish they were more in line with how Microsoft handles upgrades but it is what it is.

Glad they moved on this quickly and made a commitment to a standard policy going forward. Now should I just buy the PS4 edition and upgrade to save $10.00? lol

Sony charges $10 for PS5 games so there is no way they and MS can have the same policy, plus MS hasn't released a 1st party cross-gen game yet, flight sim is a PC port that isn't available to play natively on xbox one consoles. When Forza and Halo and the rest come out they'll want you to be paying them for GP and for micro transactions in those games so they aren't going to worry about $10 upgrades since most people won't be buying 1st party games anyway.

I wish they had an option of the physical version of the collectors edition. I know halo 5 and some other game had a digital and allowed a trade in for it

unless you buy the digital versions and it’s “play anywhere” on their digital stores

Gears Tactics doesn't count as cross gen?

Gears Tactics doesn't count as cross gen?
It was released months before the Series consoles came out, it wasn't made natively for the Series X/S they just upgraded a few things, it looks basically like the One X version running at 60fps with a few slight changes from what I've seen and not all of them were for the better. I'm talking about games that launched on the new console at the same time.

The Forza games have never had microtransacations and 5 looks to be the same.

Those games are still Cross gen apart from Flight Sim which isn't possible on Xbox One. MS upgrading them for free doesn't change that and it doesn't matter if the game came out before Series X/S they had the upgrades in mind when making them.

As for this. People shouldn't have had to complain to the point Sony did a U turn and ask versions they sell off the game should be eligible for the upgrade.

Most people don’t have game pass.

They could of missed it.

Good on them fixing it.

I was skipping it if they didn't.

20m+ but not sure what the active number of users is on Xbox? But yes I've got my physical copy of FH5 on pre order.

It's good that they fixed it but the press release also confirms that Sony plans on plenty of cross gen games outside of this, GT and GoW so I dare say when those games are nearer to release people will complain about the $10 charge.

I think they said crossgen for 3 years right? So till November 2023 or so. I think we will see some cross gens and only next gen titles announced on Thursday.

Man ohh man, past Sony announcements haven't aged well. First they "Believe in Generations" and then they "Believe in Player Choice".

But they are moving forward with cross-gen titles and will stop offering free upgrades after this game. Ohh well, it seems like Corporations, in this case Sony only learn to be humble once they lose market-share. It happened with the PS3 not doing as well as everyone thought it should and they made up that lost ground with the PS4 by being mostly pro-consumer. Now Sony's back on top and they seem to have a short memory and are angling for shortsighted profits at the expense of long term success.

Sony has some crazily convoluted pricing setups. I was still nervous when I bought the Ghost of Tsushima DLC that I'd paid for the wrong version. If I'm confused by it, and I'm paying attention to this crap, I can't imagine how many mistakes casuals and kids' parents will make. It's always crazy to me to think that numerous meetings with Sony sales employees and executives were had to come up with this gigantic cluster f*** of a strategy. Sony needs to dump a lot of their cheesy dead weight Playstation execs.

I hold off on preordering until I've seen enough to know I want something these days, I'm in no rush on this.

I read these decisions are coming from Sony North America who has been given more power over decisions Worldwide. Its been confirmed they were also behind the gutting of certain internal Sony development studios because of underperformance and is the cause of Sony internal development losing talent to the competition around the globe.

None of these Corporations learn a damn thing unless it hits the share price. And even after being hit with a giant humble pie they eat it and forget soon after.

A bit off topic but I personally like this seesaw of arrogance generations between MS and Sony.

Sony got arrogant with the Ps3 causing MS to innovate a be pro-consumer with the 360. Which caused MS to get arrogant with the One and served humble pie by the PS4 and it's brilliance ( arguable the best generation of games EVER from Sony). Going into this generation it looks like Sony is on its arrogance cycle again which should push pro-consumer moves and risks at MS to catch up to the market leader.

Somewhere in the middle is Nintendo that goes to the beat of its own drum despite whatever MS and Sony do.

Y'all, with all 3 major players in the console space getting serious about gaming and the competition, this has the potential to be one of the greatest generations of console gaming we've seen in quite some time if not the best by the end of the generation.

Add another raytracing first party title to their lineup.

The PS5 enhancements sound great.

Forget if I found said link on Twitter or Reddit, I didn’t read all of it, just saw bullet points and did a copy paste….there were other links but wasn’t sure if it’s all copy in one go. I’ll update later if I remember
