House of the Dragon - No Book Spoilers

I'm interested to see what they do away from GRRM's writing. Still no last book from GRRM. It is still my opinion that he's never going to finish it, and doesn't even have a good ending. The books got worse after the 2nd one. I don't think it is a coincidence that the show fell off along the same pattern (they actually managed to fix a lot of book problems). It is rare to see a show be better than the source material, but I think that's the case.

With this, they'll be able to build it themselves from start to finish and not have to fit some books and tack on an ending.

Maybe one of these days, GRRM will finish the last book and prove me wrong.

Maybe it's me but the effects for the dragons don't look done yet, they also look to have dragons with different builds than the 3 in the original series.

I watched it earlier, I liked it but of course we have to get used to a totally new set of characters. I do think the dragon effects look like they've taken a hit, they look more like plastic or rubber than the dragons in the original series.

Dolby Vision and Atmos+

Besides that... this one looks to be a slow burner.
We need cliffhanger endings and episode 1 didn't give that.
Also why no next week preview when the episode ended?

Was fine but at the same time it's based on one of the more duller families.
Direwolf>>>>>>>>Dragon.

Reviews have said it's a slow build for the first 4 episodes.

I liked this first episode. It had a nice amount of political intrigue with action and violence that I've come to expect from this medieval drama.

They did a great job of world building or at least connecting it to what came before. Matt Smith's character quickly became my point of intertest with his crazy and impulsive ways. I hope they don't over do it with Dragons. I know that's embedded in the title of the show but if they are shown too much then their impact will not be as dramatic as it was in the original show.

Still, this first episode set things up nicely. I'll continue to tune in that's for sure.

I'll also be happy if it doesn't become a 'every episode must finish on a cliffhanger' show.

No clue if that's what is happening here, but it sure does seem like every new show / movie with disappointing fan reactions immediately has some sort of bigotry related news story on social media. Are there that many bigots out there with options on nerd media?

How is that racist. What a tool.
Yeah I can't imagine why he would be bothered by seeing people on social media complain that he is black

And he didn't even call anyone racist. In fact he barely even complained and only pointed out how ridiculous it is.
