House of the Dragon - No Book Spoilers

Took about 4 episodes for things to start moving as it was introducing characters and locations. Not every episode of GOT ended on a cliffhanger and this should keep that. If you use it too often it loses its appeal.

You also need to remember slow doesn't mean bad. Was better when it took a couple episodes for characters to get around rather than going back and forth in 1 episode like in later seasons.

We watched the first episode of GoT House of the Dragon last night. Well that premier already has me intrigued going forward. It did seem to be lacking in the CGI effects department compared to the later seasons of GoT.

It’s been so long since I watched GoT I’m a little confused on how many down the line each character was from each family in GoT from this.

Your experience is way different than mine.
Things were excellent from start with GOT Season 1.
The same can't be said about HOD, at least going by the first Episode and I can't help but get the feeling that it won't get real good until the latter parts of the season.

I am lowering my expectations to try and enjoy it more.

Again. Never said GOT season 1 wasn't good. But to act like it wasn't a slow burner is wrong.
Up until they started rushing through stuff and thus starting its decline(S5 onwards) each season had a deliberate pace.

It's nowhere as much of a slow burner as what HOD has shown and according to you...with four episodes until it picks up its more confirmed.

We aren't talking about other seasons so lets not try and change goal posts.

Does anyone else think that this show leans a little harder into the fantasy element than the original series when it comes to things like armor and clothing? A character today had armor that reminded me of something in Skyrim and the helmet last week with the dragon wings looked pretty cool too.

It was and it wasn't. HOD isn't as well written and doesn't have the characters to grab your attention as the season slowly builds. The characters in HOD are bland.

It's going to be more book accurate. Martin hated the liberties they took with armour in GOT. Especially not wearing helmets and he has a lot more say on things in this.

Good episode with lots of politicking going on and pieces being moved about.[just like early GOT...]

I do wish they they made me music for this though even though its set in the GOT world.

Picks up = show runners talking about moving past character introduction. Not lots of action/violence.

Pretty good so far, not overly excited or anything. Will say some of the "epic moments" like Rhaenyra flying in on the dragon were a bit weak for me. Did enjoy that scene overall, but idk some of it fell flat. I guess I just don't care about her character very much yet, though it is cool she's a dragonrider.

Much more interested in the political aspects of the show, like how they're already moving forward with Houses leaving and joining Daemon, excited to see how that plays out.

GOT actually already told the story.

Would like a Dunk and Egg show which was suggested at one point.

How it ends seems pretty obvious at this point. They go to war, Daemon wins, marries his niece.
"You've been invited to his wedding."

The surprised pikachu-face from Princess Rhaenyra when her dad revealed he'll marry her best friend had be rolling in laugher. And Princess Rhaenyra handled the beef at Dragonstone like a boss. Her dad the King should be proud of his heir but instead he reinforced his brother Prince Daemon's words when he accused the King of being weak.

They are doing a good job of setting the stage and building things up. I look forward to seeing and learning more about this Crabfeeder.

I think her flying in looked a little weak because the special effects weren't up to later season quality of GoT, also for some reason when I see that actress all I can think of is Cha-Ka from the old "Land of the Lost" tv show lol.

Enjoying it so far. I read the source material for this (Fire and Blood, which reads more like a Maester’s history book about the family) relatively recently, and the story they’ve chosen to adapt here is definitely one that deserves to be told cinematically.

I’m back on board after two episodes, despite being extremely jaded after season 8. Which was horrid.

First 2 episodes are great, loving the setup for the show. I actually didn't know there was source material for this.

Elizabeth olsen

In talks to join Season 2. Going to take a guess and say they will be apart of a certain fire loving religion.

No way they would cast her in a way that is so reminiscent of the one she is best known for.

I find that rumor to be unlikely in general. Its from a site notorious for BS and I don't think there is any role really big enough that it would make sense.
