Woke early this morning an watched his AE biography and it just about brought tears to my eyes. We've lost many great actors and comedians, especially some of the 'bigger' fellows but John Candy was a really good man and made every movie he was in better. Makes me want to watch Uncle Buck and a few others again.

I remember John Candy mostly from SCTV, before he was a big star. He cracked me up. I've got the DVD on my shelf, and I watch it when the cable goes out.

I remember a lot of his characters -- Johnny LaRue, the guy from Farm Film report, professor Tongue, etc.. Here he is as the Beaver:

"Gee, Wally."

I have to say PT&A is easily one of his best roles its right up there with Uncle Buck. I just watched it again and I honestly got a little emotional when Steve goes back to the train station at the end and John says that he has no home and that his wife was gone for years.

Yeppers. We watched it with the family before the meal and I got choked up there too...wasn't expecting that to happen...again. I died laughing at the pickup truck ride with the hillbillies, mainly because I know some folks like that here in Tennessee. :really:
