My least favorite quote is below. I don't know if Tabata or translator is trolling fans, but the wording is so terrible:

{XV’s battle system has undergone similar changes as well. “Another example is in the combat,” explained Tabata. “With the hardware specifications of the newer consoles, it’s possible to set it up so you have different enemies and different choices of attacks you can enter in, but I want to simplify that. It’ll basically be a one-button action, and the AI intuitively outputs an action that kind of satisfies, gives you that instant gratification, and it connects with the simple touch of a button. I myself am not getting any younger. I don’t want to be frantically pushing buttons. I also want to utilise the intelligence of the hardware spec, and not have to go through too much hassle or trouble in order to execute moves.” }

Yea... this is going to go over well.

I don't understand why a simple mode can't just be an option. Could be a poor translation but it kinda comes across more like he doesn't want to spend development time making a deep system, so instead he's going to BS that the new consoles allow for something new and different.

It can actually be harder to design and implement that "Simple" system than a complex one. Maybe he means he wants a more intuitive system as opposed to digging through menus. If they do it right, you could be spending your time thinking about your larger strategy than dinkin' around in sub-menus. Hopefully it doesn't just turn into a mindless experience, though. Like I said, it's hard to make a good simple system that doesn't play the game for you. Unfortunately there are far too many examples of devs not being able to pull it off.

Ugh! Making it open world isn't the answer to the f*** up of ffxiii.
Making it open work is not an excuse to making 1 button victories.

I don't care if he's getting older. If you feel innept to carry a legacy, move on.

Ff xiv is real time combat so I guess sub menu are minimal anyway. They could have made a dual combat system similar to dragon age inquisition to satisfy more gamers.

Actually, it is not quite true what you say about the menu system for the combat of FFXIV being minimal. In FFXIV, you have sixteen unique mappable actions on a single hotbar, and you had access to a total of nine hotbars in real time. That's a 144 unique actions you can perform at any given time in the game. Not's not very minimal.

I see. Sound complicated.

I love Final Fantasy but all good things come to an end. In many people's eyes the franchise has already been in shambles for 10+ years now. I'm still excited for Final Fantasy XV. We'll see how it turns out. Not sure i like the sound of this though.

Are you f***ing kidding me? Going "casual" is what killed FF. Jesus H Christ,just look at motherf*cking FF8. Talk about a soul-less game designed to appeal to broader Japanese demographic. F°uck that **** right up the ********* ***...

You are far more of an optimist then I :txbsmile:. Because that is often the case.
