I want the early 2D Shinobi games remastered!

I remember liking a lot of the 2D sega games back in the day but if they remastered them they'd need to make them feel better to play too, a lot of those old games feel very stiff and unresponsive by today's standards. I love a good 2.5D side scroller though so I'm all for people making more of those just none of that 8bit pixel art crap I want high end looking 2.5D

I remember getting to Spider-Man as a boss more than half way through one of the Genesis games (Revenge of Shinobi?), and I about lost my sh!t! That was such a hard game! The logs! Anybody remember this game? Tight-a$$ gameplay! I don't feel like these games got proper sequels going into 3D, at least nothing like Ninja Gaiden did.

Revenge. Had Spider-man, Batman, Hulk, and Godzilla. They removed them all with a re-release. I had the original cart. There was an easter egg where you take out the cart with the Genesis on, put cart back in, hit reset, and then, I believe, the title screen changed to Super Shinobi.

Hmm, I didn't remember most of them being super accurate except Spidey. Reading up on it, it sounds like they went official with Spider-Man on revision 2 of the game (to avoid legal trouble), but toned back Rambo and made Godzilla a skeleton. I'm pretty sure this was the version that I played. Batman didn't look close enough for copyright, imo. Terminator did look close, I remember. Just Reading about this now. It sounds like 3 versions were made, and the last (recent) one makes Spider-Man pink because they lost the Marvel license.

Umm...

I think this one definitely passes the parody clause. Just saying. Spider-Man did not, so they just made him official.... and back then, Marvel properties were probably very cheap to secure a license, compared to DC, which had the hit movies. Marvel had the Roger Corman unreleased Fantastic Four movie, by comparison.

Agreed 100%.

All the Shinobi games, and let’s add Ghouls and Ghosts to that list.

Both of these were hugely popular, and I can’t understand why they haven’t been remastered yet.

I would actually like to see Ghosts and Goblins/Gouls and Ghosts remade with a similar art style to like a spooky version of Cuphead, and just keep the original gameplay intact.

Now you’re talking! Or the production value of Ori.

G and G with the graphics and sound of Ori....oh hell yes.

Has anyone ever made it past the first 30 feet of Ghouls and Ghosts?

You think the early part of the game is hard? The second go round you have to do to get the real ending is rough. I managed to complete the first and second play though once, I doubt I could do it again.

I really liked the Saturn version of Shinobi.

It was digitized a la Mortal Kombat. But I thought it looked really cool at the time and playing it again recently, I still do.

Yeah... it's.. something lol
It's okay though, the style is fine, but when comparing it to Shinobi III and it feels like a cheap clone imo.
It's a fun game though.

Have you tried The Messenger? Similar type game and was pretty good. Not sure if it's still on Game Pass or not.
I haven't, got turned off by the simple graphics, Shinobi III (starting to sound like a broken record lol) still looks awesome, even taking the retro tinted glasses off. I really want at last 16bit graphics from my 2d games, NES era looks to simple today and imo there's nothing with that type of graphics that looks good.

most of these ganes can be play on PC with emulator. Just saying.

In Super shinobi,

a) there is a Factory stage where you can get 2 lives. What I did was take the 2 lives, than jumped to my death, rinse and repeat until I have like 50 lives

B)There is also a magic power where you give up 1 life to do massive damage where you explode yourself, but come back to fight without reload the stage or boss fight.

Combined A & B, the game can be easily beaten. I was a smart kid. no one told me these.
