Microsoft dropped the ball when they didn't swoop them up after Sunset. Sony, rightly so, swooped them up after Spider-Man.

What does this acquisition mean for a series like Sunset Overdrive, which was a Microsoft exclusive?
That was a great experience for Insomniac and they learned a lot through that, as well. As far as the IP itself, we really haven’t turned over the files on that one to see what that actually means, to be honest. We like what they’ve been doing in the Spider-Man franchise and things like Ratchet & Clank are certainly vital series in the present and future. That’s what we’re concentrating on.
I guess I can't say I am surprised Sony is going to do multiplatform with Insomniac. Coincides with their job ads of getting AAA games to more devices.https://www.bloomberg.com/news/arti...ire-spider-man-video-game-developer-insomniac
In an interview, Shawn Layden, chairman of Sony’s game studios worldwide, said exclusive titles will still be a part of the company’s strategy, but that some games -- particularly multiplayer titles designed to be played on personal computers -- may see broader distribution.
“We must support the PlayStation platform -- that is nonnegotiable,” Layden said. “That said, you will see in the future some titles coming out of my collection of studios which may need to lean into a wider installed base.”
Insomniac owns the IP so if they want to make a sequel it'd be up to Sony to approve it. I'm guessing they'll focus more on a Spider-Man sequel and other more commercially viable IP first though.
Xbox wasn't getting a Spider-man game anyways.
Everyone is over Remedy now. They are done with MS. They couldn’t even stomach saying their name in a recent interview.True..but I have a feeling Remedy is next. And it will really hurt fans of Remedy games on Xbox.

Well those few people need to get over it. The majority of gamers in this world don't even know what or who Remedy (or any developers) are. Just us hardcore gaming freaks.I don't know about everybody. I think if Sony announces a Remedy acquisition via tweet at XO19 Xbox fans will express alot of their frustrations.

I personally wasn't impressed with Spider-man at all. I would give my left nut for the return of Resistance.Yeah, but it kinda sounds like Sony wants them to focus on Spider-Man and maybe ratchet and clank, which isn’t bad but who knows

Remedy has already moved on and has a marketing exclusive partnership with Sony for Control. It's over, it's done. Move on.
I don't think people would be thrilled with that. But I was told by some that Quantum Break was garbage, and Control looks like more of the same. Outside of the low selling cult hit, Alan Wake on Xbox, they really don't do anything good since Max Payne, which is 14 years dead.I think we all know they aren't going to work with Microsoft but that doesn't mean everyone should be thrilled over the idea of their games not being on Xbox at all

Their new project is making a campaign for Crossfire for Xbox. A game supposedly nobody heard of.
Sooo garbage. Who'd want to play that..
It's not like Remedy is getting better any better at what they do.
I think you're confusing what fans want on Xbox with sales numbers and what's popular. Remedy provides Xbox with high quality story driven games with an interesting narrative. Something the platform is still missing plenty of. They provide an important piece of the puzzle and if Remedy doesn't want anything to do with MS anymore than that's really sad news for fans of Alan Wake and Quantum Break.
