As shown in 1080p gaming slide ... that doesn't sound good.

It probably runs twice as hot too.

Doesn't seem like a huge performance gain from the 13 series ...

I think most competitive gamers play at 1080p, 240 or 360hz monitors.

I am somewhere in the middle, 1440p for that eye candy but still want that refresh rate (165hz).

Interesting. I still haven't upgraded to a 4K TV....... and not sure it's worth it. But I'm not a competitive gamer by any means.

But I'm probably missing out on something, I know that but just don't have the money to upgrade.

If you play mostly on a console I would say a decent 4k tv upgrade is worth it unless you play on a XSS as that is usually lower res.

But then I have to upgrade my A/V. And if I'm getting a new TV, I'm not going low end there. It will be a Sony (possibly LG) and right now even though my current TV is like 12 years old, it looks good and I'm maybe 5 feet away from it.

I want to upgrade..........just not sure it's time yet.

But I'm getting way off topic here. I have an I9 in my HTPC but it's bad gen......bad bad. No more motherboards for me if something goes wrong.

If you're already getting 12 years out of your current set, that is great value right there.

If you want to save a few hundred bucks, the B series of LG OLED's are great. Not as colour saturated but I kind of like it better that way because it looks more natural to me.

Computer refreshes are generally every 5-6 years anyways so I usually get a i7 which is great for gaming and productivity. I9 vs i7 is pretty close in terms of gaming, it's only if you're also using it for work that you may get more value.

The only bottleneck in my PC is my GPU, which is an EVGA 1070ti.

I can not uprgrade because my 8/9th gen i9 had some sort of security problem (on the hardware side) and they killed it off.

If my motherboard goes tits up, well............ pretty much full rebuild.
