i don't think so, this generation has gone on for so long that the new hardware automatically creates curiosity and excitement. plus the launch/launch window games i personally find to be a solid output

It's off and on right now. As I sit here at this time I really don't care one way or another. Ask me in a couple days and I'll be crapping myself.

yeah I'm already ready for next next generation where all console games can finally operate at 60fps at 1080p on my decade old HD tvs , of course when Consoles do finally get there we'll be buying 4K tvs.

Now that I've moved over to gaming primarily on PC (at least 95% of my gaming) I have little interest in these next consoles. Perhaps when there are more PS4 exclusive titles I'll pick one up but for the next year or so I'll stick to my PC. Not to mention all this talk lately of SteamOS, SteamBox and the AMD Mantle stuff I may just stick with PC gaming until the PS4 hits that magical $200 mark.

Not a lot of great launch games, but a lot of good releases in the coming year.

I'd say so. No launch I can remember has had so many AAA games whether it's existing franchises or new IPs. Good to see third parties give this coming launch some good games right away.

This will be the first time since the mid 90's that I haven't bought a console at launch.

I have a PS4 pre-ordered. Not really excited though. I pre-ordered it as my current PS3 is having some issues and I want a good blu-ray player that can play the occasional game. lol

Morrowind came out 7+ months after Xbox launch. I suppose that was something nice to look forward to but this 'launch window' concept is a little drawn out now if it includes games that come out 7 months later. Bethesda have commented about the challenges of releasing an RPG with a console; I doubt they'll do it again.

From my perspective, there are a few new IPs and a few established I'm interested in. I'm getting 4 titles with the PS4 which is the least I've gotten with a console in 20 years, but I still expect to get a lot of gamplay out of them and there are also quite a few F2P titles that I I look forward to trying out if I get bored waiting for the second wave.

It's okay. I'm not excited, but I'm interested. It's about on the same level as last generation. The one before that -- the one where the original Xbox launched -- that was exciting. I've been through a few generations now, and I guess I'm used to it. I don't see anything particularly new and exciting being offered this gen, aside from the usual increase in processing power. I do think the game lineup is pretty solid -- not only a fair number of big-budget titles, but also plenty of interesting indy titles. I don't see anything that screams "must have" to me, though. Not yet.

The man makes a lot of sense and I tend to agree with him, even though I'll end up with both consoles sooner or later

The games aren't really leaving me super excited at the moment. I'm excited, just not like off the wall.

The consoles on the other hand are leaving me very excited/interested. Especially the X1. Just really excited about all the extra features it has besides gaming.

No, probably not. I think 4k is going to go over with the public like 3d tv did. There will be some mild interest from the enthusiasts, but the general public will not see the benefit. Right now people only have 1080p TV's if their old one burned out in the last 3 years. I think the enthusiasts will move on to Occulus Rift or some similar technology. Then you get your big tv experience in a virtual movie theater, on a virtual 100' screen if you want to be that close.

I'd definitely be down for the Occulus Rift to take place of a static TV for gaming, make it near lagless High def and add some surround sound headphones to it and I'll be more than happy to spill the bucks needed to play the next Skyrim or Fallout with it.

Im excited for the X1, but I was a little more excited for the 360. Im still looking forward to the next-gen, especially Star Wars Battlefront. This gen has gotten long in the tooth.

A few months ago when the systems were announced I was a lot more excited. Now however, my interest has cooled significantly, maybe it has to do with just the Ho-hum launch titles or the diminishing returns of each new generation.

Or the constant bickering back and forth and mudslinging..kind of ruins the hype and excitement

For me personally it's. Have the Xbox One pre ordered on Amazon and sometimes I'm thinking of canceling it and just wait till next year to get one. But nothing beats opening a new console on launch day though instead of watching everyone else be playing the console.

I'm excited for the PS4. Might get a bone next year some time. Come November, everyone will be giddy.

My excitement level is about a 4 right now. If many of the launch games weren't just slight upgrades over the current gen releases I would be more excited.

I'm still excited cause we've been on this current generation for a long time now. I'm ready for updated graphics on console. However, I don't plan to buy on launch and didn't last gen either. I'll wait at least a year out. The 3 games that will get me to buy a system are mgs 5, halo 5 and ff 15. Until them, I'm content with my backlog of games from consoles to steam games.

Launch window = Anything from launch date to end cycle depending on who you ask.
What the hell does 'end cycle' mean? Not being snarky. I'm old school and I don't recall this concept of 'launch window' ever being discussed prior to Xbox 360, so to me it generally means the first 90 days or so following launch.

"End cycle" = end of console cycle. Ketto is being sarcastic.

I always thought of "launch window" as ending somewhere around 3 to 6 months after the official launch date.

I couldn't say I am that excited about what's coming. Only a few games like Ryse and Battlefield 4 has caught my interest.

Dead rising 3, Ryse, Crimson Dragon and Killer Instinct will keep me happy.

Also that's a pretty poor list in the OP for me.

I'm really excited. Get to switch over to Sony (for at least this generation). And there is nothing quite like opening that box, pulling the console out, and setting it up.
