The Suicide Squad

I didn't enjoy it as much as I was hoping to, but it's still entertaining and unique. Definitely wish the first movie would have been more in this vein. I laughed pretty hard at the climax of the lengthy intro scene.

The movie won't even break $30 million this weekend. Godzilla vs Kong, which also debuted simultaneously on HBO Max and theaters, did much better with $48.5 million for comparison. For its first weekend, SS is on par with Birds of Prey moneywise but SS has roughly double the budget.

Pandemic aside, I think the first SS has played a huge role in why the second film is performing poorly despite having much more favorable reviews.
Dune is screwed

The movie was just OK. Watched on HBO Max.

I loved it and was exactly the tone and director this needed. Give me more plz.

Have to say I like this, Aquaman, Shazam style of films more than the dark more serious DC films side.
I've been meaning to rewatch Birds of Prey, I thought it was a lot of fun too.

Thought this was pretty bad. More comedy than the first, but ultimately still meh. The characters are boring. The action is poor. The writing was done by the Scientology guy.

WB would still have made money from HBO.

The delta variant has really messed things up

A close friend who read lots of DC said this was much more true to the comics. There's a lot of reference in there, which I didn't get. So, this was a winner for him.

He's roman Catholic.

Think this shows that when you make a film for 185m you can't just have an R version.

Should have gone for that plus released a PG-13 like the first was especially if you are also putting out PG-13 trailers for it.

Still if China gets things back on track it still has China's money to help it.

That is an interesting case. Not sure if false claim/extortion or rape, but either way, people suck, and are selfish. At least he's cooperating with the authorities, so who knows? I don't ever want to exonerate the accused of rape, before the evidence comes out. It does sound a bit dubious, however. Time will tell.
