Kassen's Magical Thread of Science and Other Things

We only pray to the Father in Jesus name.

Catholics pray to the dead including Mary and Idols/statues.

We believe in Heaven/Paradise,Hell and the Lake Of Fire.

Catholics make up a place called purgatory and add it to the mix.

We believe in salvation as a free gift obtained by grace through faith.

Catholics believe in earning salvation by doing works.

We call one man Father and believe one man intercedes for us and took away or sin Jesus The Christ.

Catholics give people authority to intercede for sins like priests, popes and the dead Mary and call priests Father even when Jesus says not to do this.

Off the top of my head
Thanks for taking the time and effort for sharing your beliefs man.

Not everyone is going to agree with everyone about stuff, so kudos to you for putting your faith out there too, especially knowing you were going to cop a bit of flak.

I've always been rather jealous of people who have faith. It's always felt like this secret that I was waiting for my family to tell me about one day, but they never clued me in on it.

Anyway, that's a bridge I'll never cross now.

I am fine with respecting someones faith until they start spouting nonsense about how its wrong to be gay or stuff like that. Not sure that is something you should be jealous of.

I'm not jealous of the bigotry.

More the blind acceptance. And believing in something bigger than yourself.

Le sigh.

I'll always have Oprah, at least.

This man is about to launch himself in his homemade rocket to prove the Earth is flat

Seeking to prove that a conspiracy of astronauts fabricated the shape of the Earth, a California man intends to launch himself 1,800 feet high on Saturday in a rocket he built from scrap metal.

“It’ll shut the door on this ball earth,” Hughes said in a fundraising interview with a flat-Earth group for Saturday’s flight. Theories discussed during the interview included NASA being controlled by round-Earth Freemasons and Elon Musk making fake rockets from blimps.

Hughes promised the flat-Earth community that
he would expose the conspiracy with his steam-powered rocket, which will launch from a heavily modified mobile home — though he acknowledged that he still had much to learn about rocket science.

“This whole tech thing,” he said in the June interview. “I’m really behind the eight ball.”

He has been building rockets for years, albeit with mixed results.

“Okay, Waldo. 3 . . . 2 . . . 1!” someone yells in a test fire video from 2012.

There’s a brief hiss of boiling water, then . . . nothing. So Hughes walks up to the engine and pokes it with a stick, at which point a thick cloud of steam belches out toward the camera.

He built his first manned rocket in 2014, the Associated Press reported, and managed to fly a quarter-mile over Winkelman, Ariz.

As seen in a YouTube video, the flight ended with Hughes being dragged, moaning
from the remains of the rocket. The injuries he suffered put him in a walker for two weeks, he said.

And the 2014 flight was only a quarter of the distance of Saturday’s mile-long attempt.

lol at the bolded. Good luck, buddy.

Lol, I still think he is only pushing the "flat earth" because no one will fund his rocket. Those guys are so desperate for tangible proof that they'd fund any endeavor to have a demonstration from someone who is "uncompromised".

There are lots of people who have a healthy relationship with their faith, then there are those nuts who simply accept everything they've been taught without question. It is the "dinosaurs never existed and the earth is only 6000 year old" types who are the ones to watch for.

I actually went to a religious college and the bible classes there were actually really interesting. Basically they were about the history around the bible and not the exact words that were written.

Those who have faith in something bigger than them should be envied. Those who have so much faith they refuse to question should be pitied.

That's a brilliant idea for a new GoFundMe/Kickstarter!

"I'm going to prove that the earth is flat!!! Ive been doing a bunch of bicep curls, and I plan to throw a brand new Samsung Galaxy Note up really high with my epic arms, and then catch it with my mad skills... All I need is the money for the new phone! Let's prove NASA wrong! #maga #trump #nra"

*quietly erases Kickstarter write-up*

Tomorrow will be a better day.

Problem is Flat Earthers don't deal in facts or logic or reality. The world is flat and all they will accept is proof of that belief. There is no point engaging them just better to ignore.
Pfft! If the world is round, then why isn't everything downhill?

:p

Everything is down hill. If you have climb a gradient, you’re lower than it. If you descend, you’re higher than it.

Sounds a lot like religious people.

Update on our favorite astronaut:

Rebuffed Flat Earth Rocketeer Says He Will Actually Launch Himself Into the Sky at 500 MPH This Time

... But Hughes has not been deterred, and in a number of posts on his Facebook page he claims to have a real launch planned for February 3rd.

It’s still not entirely clear what Hughes intends to prove with the launch because, as LiveScience noted, observing the curvature of the Earth requires one rise some 35,000 feet (10,700 meters) above the ground. Hughes’ rocket will not be capable of attaining anywhere near that height, which is good because videos of his parachutes are far from reassuring.

We’ve all been let down on this Flat-Earth-rocket stuff before, but Hughes seems pretty insistent that this time there will actually be a launch.

In a Facebook thread over the past few days, Hughes additionally announced there will be “No spectators” and that “Any drone flying near the private property will be shut down ... our own drones will be recording anyone filming and their license plates.”

“I am the only man in history to design then build then launch myself in my own rocket,” he added. “So fly your drones up your ass.”

Bonus quote: "I don’t believe in science. I know about aerodynamics and fluid dynamics and how things move through the air, about the certain size of rocket nozzles, and thrust. But that’s not science, that’s just a formula. There’s no difference between science and science fiction."

I don't know weather to laugh, cry, or just shake my head at the bonus.
