Kinect Topic

Folks need to at least try it for nongaming purposes, it has improved at the very least Netflix and Xbox music/video for me. It is like having a phone but refusing to use the camera because it is a phone. I find it a bit silly being so adamantly against something you haven't tried.

Could it have been a defective kinect sensor on the showfloor? Maybe someone fingered the lens with powdered donut residue. :) I've read enough positive previews and seen enough video clips of Kinect and KS in action to not be troubled.

Probably kotaku themselves ;)

One thing you will learn is that gamers will annoyingly only take the bad previews into consideration.

All I ever see gamers do these days is complain. You almost can't blame many devs leaving the industry because of all the negativity.

And that's the first negative (out of many very positive) impression I've read.
I've seen an actual video of the Kinect Sports Rival scanning and it worked just fine and the result was good taking into consideration that the game has yet a long way to go...

I've seen the same video so I find this kotaku article hilarious.

Kotaku is doing something wrong, there are videos from the cons that show people being scanned in, didn't take nearly that long, maybe a couple mins at most

Guess the MS rep standing right next to him giving instruction was doing something wrong too huh?

Again kotaku. They have demonstrated all summer a bias, why should this be any different? They have even given good news a negative spin.

The writer may have indeed encountered several problems, but that doesn't mean everyone did (or does), nor does it mean it is representative of the final product.

Seems like, based on above, that most had good experiences with it.

Sounds like an issue with the game's calibration build. At GamesCom it worked exceedingly well by most accounts.

I guess the PS4 that didn't work during the live broadcast meant that all PS4's will act the same? We have videos of people who scanned into KSR in a couple of minutes at the most, whatever was going on with Kotaku, something out of the ordinary was wrong.

Its the sense of entitlement. I mean we've seen arn chair engineers on forums who know more than the actual hardware console designers. Neckbeard and Mountain Dew warriors baby!

You all aren't understanding how small my college apartment room is. It's a 24" monitor. It's the same monitor I have my PC hooked into. It's the same monitor I game on, I do homework on, and surf the net on. My 40" TV is in the living room, but my roommate and I use that strictly for TV.

Say no more, but I would maybe think of getting your roommate a GF so you can monopolize the TV :p lol

Honestly I've lost respect for kotaku recently. Until a few articles ago they were still calling it xbone, which commenters doing is fine but not journalists. The website feels more of "hey this is how I feel about this" then actual journalism...I've moved on.

I cancelled preorder cause of this one bad review on kinect. ;)

I'm sure the X1 experience as a whole will be innovative and awesome.

Failtaku strikes again...

Kinect is dumb, just like I feel having internet connection build in for phone is dumb, I have a PC for that, I just want a bloody phone to call & receive calls. Same with the build in camera in phone, seriously, if I want to take pictures, I use a camera, why I have to pay for the extra lens.

I have realized that they don't even count as journalists swear they must get payoffs. This website is always attacking games for sexism, racism, and every other type of ism yet nary a word against GTAV because they have spent the last two weeks promoting it. (nothing on gta, LOVING it)

Oh dear lawd. I've never seen a guy who is as good looking as him go so long without any sort of female companionship. I'd say I have had 3x as many girls as him since we've lived together, but you can't multiply anything by zero.
