Any Kingdom Hearts fans in here? A couple of KH games have already come out this year -- the 1.5 and 2.5 remixes, and the 2.8 (?) game. I haven't played any KH game myself, apart from a few hours of the first game, over a decade ago. I didn't like that much, but I hear the first game is the worst.

Anyhow, Kingdom Hearts 3 has been announced for 2018. A lot of people seem skeptical that it will actually make 2018, which I suppose is because of a history of delays with the franchise.

Here is a trailer. I've cued it up at the Toy Story level.

I used to be a fan of the series. I played through the original and Kingdom Hearts 2. Then they started coming out with the nonsensical spinoffs and convoluted plots lines and lost me along the way.

Yeah same here. I have no idea what the deal is with the sequels.

Im not the biggest fan of the combat system either.

It is scheduled to come to PS4 and Xbox One. According to the developers, it "may" come to the Switch later, after they get the X1 and PS4 versions out. Seems like it would be a good fit for the Switch's audience -- but then, there would be the issue of downgraded graphics. Graphics seem to be one of the big selling points of the game, so I'm not sure how that would go over.

the plot was never good nor made sense. But KH2 takes that to 11. Plus all of the dues ex machina with Maleficent resurrection. I like the games, but the combat needs more depth.

Oh I agree but at least the story/plot was follow-able. Now if I get KH3 I'm pretty assured I'm going to have to go to some wiki or youtube to try and make sense of all of it. Never had an issue with combat besides KH 2 implementation of press one button and make something amazing happen.

I never played it, but my son did, although he never finished 1 or 2 or the 365/something or another DS spinoff or the other DS spinoff which wasn't really a sequel, prequel, interquel, nyquil or anything else I'd know.

Was a big fan of KH1. Never played anything after that. I will definitely get around to playing KH3 one day looks fun. I'm sure my son would love this too.

Wow. I'm impressed! Have we finally reached that coveted tagline!? Toy Story Graphics!? Eat your heart out Playstation 2!!!

Looking forward to it. Didn't play Kingdom Hearts on PS2 until years after release. Glad i did, great series.

I just don't see the appeal to this game. I know they have Disney in it but it just okay at best.

I'm down for this game..I probably won't know wtf is going on though. I've seen vids bout the series' storyline but it makes no sense to me.

I'd probably be more likely to get on board once they do the divorce court scene where Mickey shouts: "I didn't say she was crazy, I said she was f***ing Goofy!"

I've finished EVERY NyQuil that Ive come across...

Some of my best posts on here are sponsored by NyQuil/Ambien.

I didn't like the first game, but I'm interested in this one for some reason. The art/visuals, probably. Maybe the light/childlike tone, too.

Anyhow, we will be getting a lot of info from previews in a few days (5/18 ), when the preview embargo lifts. Hopefully some good news. And then maybe a release date at E3.

I'll read up on the story from youtube or a wiki. I preordered this game so long ago from Amazon that the price is still $49.99. Surprised Amazon didn't cancel it.

I've heard that the story is completely confusing.

It is. The funny thing is the first kingdom hearts game's story was simple. As they added sequels and remakes with secret endings and such, a very simple story turned into a convoluted mess. Though the days of Square-Enix telling a good story is long behind them IMO.

Previews are out.

IGN: "If the extended demo I played on both PS4 and Xbox One ahead of E3 is any indication, Kingdom Hearts 3 looks to be a true evolution of the franchise, recapturing that magic by taking all those various offshoots and experiments and melding them into a cohesive, exciting whole."

Eurogamer: "So, what did we think, given that we were some of the first people in the world to play Kingdom Hearts 3? We were impressed - it certainly still has the heart that the series is so loved for even after all these years, and the combat, which was never really Kingdom Hearts' strongest suit, is much improved."
