I guess more confirmation that if you're a multi console owner, the PS4 version is the way to go while Xbox only fans can still play really good looking games.

Basically, the article is saying the resolution difference only matters to you if you want it to.

But it does matter that those games don't look as good on the Xbox One. I don't even mean that it matters because of what the resolution difference does or doesn't suggest about both consoles' future games, or what it means about how they'll sell, or anything like that. It matters in the most self-evident way: Right now, for some people (like me!), it makes a difference that the PS4 versions of these games look better than their Xbox One counterparts. How much does it matter to you? It matters precisely as much as you think it matters that one version of a game looks better than the other one.

So, it matters if you think it matters, and it matters precisely to the degree that you think it matters. And if you don't think it matters at all, then it doesn't.

Well, I'm glad we got that sorted.

A simple yet difficult concept to grasp during times of console wars.

WHO THE F*CK CARES ABOUT THIS SO MUCH! lol. I can't believe there are so many articles & videos on this & people still go on about it so much. It's so elitist & ticky-tack. If people want a slightly higher resolution, go to PS4 then. Of course it's going to look slightly better over there, it has better quality RAM & a slightly better processor. Is it going to look *that* much better that it's night & day? I doubt it. Also, some games at the higher resolution the framerate bogged down a little bit. I've rather have it locked around 60FPS at 720p upscaled than 1080p just to have that stat, then have the framerate drop to 30-40 half the time anyways.

It's like splitting hairs over something so stupid. Resolution only does so much after 720p-1080p anyways. I'd rather them work on the actual graphics & lock it down at something realistic that's going to run well.

This article insinuates that ps4 will always have edge in resolution, which may no longer be the case once devs understand the x1 hardware better and have more time to develop

& on PC I can have higher than both, but in the end gameplay is still the same.........

One of the many reasons I truly hate these type of threads

These are the same arguments I've heard from PS3 owners when they consistently got subpar 3rd party ports. MS should know better than anyone this is unacceptable. I didn't see any reason to give the PS3 a pass and I don't see any reason to give MS a pass either. Reading the posts on this forum it looks like the rolls are reversed. I'm getting an X1 before a PS4 but there's no reason to make excuses for MS current subpar 3rd party performance.

Yeah, that was my thought. "Who friggin' cares?" To be honest, from what I've seen so far, the difference between Xbox One and PS4 in terms of 720/1080 isn't much. It's definitely not a "Day and night" difference anyway and everyone knows that. It's just that the owner of [any console] always have something to brag about when the other console fails at something (small or big). I have a friend of mine who is a huge fan of PlayStation and he always tells me that Xbox One can't do this or that, basically, and I was at to the point of saying "Seriously, dude, who cares? Just enjoy the games and quit whining." He is obviously a biased because any time I speak about PS3/4 problems, he actually defend himself, saying that it's not a big deal. Now when it comes to Xbox One problem, he acted like it's the end of the world for MS.

Seriously, really? I felt sorry for him because he's going to miss out a lot of amazing games like Halo, Forza, etc. on Xbox One. Poor him.

I am still open to the concept that these two consoles get summarily blown out of the market by the Steam Machine and yearly hardware refreshes.

But the resolution hasn't impacted my enjoyment of the x1 one bit.

Thread whining and "this is stupid, nobody cares, stop caring about it" damage control, check.
Wrong claims that "it will be just like 360/PS3", check.
Wrong claims about CoD PS4's framerate "dropping to 30-40 half the time", check.
"Just get a PC" red herring that ignores price/performance, check.

Seems like the facts and metrics are still making people upset. Now we just need astro, neo, and cegar to tell us about Xbox special hidden sauce and "sharp, popping textures".

Don't need secret sauce anymore. Just need to look at and point at Ryse. Until the PS4 delivers a game with a similarly spectacular IQ, it is only speculation that the the PS4 can match the X1.

Which unfortunately is a matter of opinion and subjective, but the matter of which version of multi platform games is superior is not really subjective as its clear which is superior.

No... it isn't... It is not subjective at all. None of the garmz journalizm media is showing you the best bits of Ryse because they contain spoilers. You can only say that Ryse is not the best looking game if you are coming from a place of ignorance.

And if you haven't played you are coming from a place of ignorance.

You cannot say that my opinion is wrong because its subjective if Ryse is the best looking game, it is not subjective which platform has the better looking multi platform titles.

You can only say that Ryse is the best looking game, once you play every single game this generation it seems like you are saying. Therefore we can safely say that no one can claim that Ryse is the best looking game as I dare say no one has done that yet.

Launch games suck visually, not a new concept. I don't see any reason dedicated gaming machines with 7000 series amd gfx won't be able to consistently pump out 1080p games once the developers become familiar with the tools/hardware.

LoL, now it doesn't matter and these threads are annoying.
