When these 2.1 TVs saturate the market enough it is usually when we start seeing the cables included, and because we are in a pandemic right now, i still believe we have a little while longer before that to takes place. On the flip side, just about everyone has a 4K TV right now. It was the same with the PS3 when it first launched while Microsoft went with the HDMI cable for the 360.
Its...a...cable. Just saying. Why not pack it in now, for when you CAN upgrade? Why even have 120fps games now, then?

I don't even have an HDMI 2.1 display yet, and I absolutely think this is complete BS. There's very little difference in cost. Most people will just not upgrade their cable over the life of the console.

I say the same exact thing to Microsoft for having WiFi 5 (ac) instead of WiFi 6 (ax), even though that is definitely more of a cost savings for them than the stupid cable. I don't even use WiFi, but what if I move, or what if I want to use it in another room?

This though, is the same company that put out a "4K" HDR console and VR headset in the same year, with a necessary breakout box for VR that did not pass the HDR signal. I have an AV receiver, yet I still have to switch cables if I want to play a PS4 Pro game in HDR. Unacceptable! Sony seriously sucks at this!

The very same way you don't have a 2.1 TV right now is the reason they didn't include the 2.1 cable in the box. It's not like they aren't supporting 2.1. It just wouldn't make sense to include the cable when you are trying to cut cost on selling the console when that market hasn't been saturated with 2.1 TVs yet.

As to why they have 120fps games. For one, some early consumers do have 2.1 TVs. Second, it's there because the console was future proofed for the long term. That doesn't mean that future is ready to instantly adopt that feature set right out the gate. Again, they did this exact same thing with the PS3. Now, if it were like WIFI 6, Bluetooth 5.1, or USB C, this here completely removes that option from ever existing in that SKU rather than a simple cable away from you unlocking that feature set.

PS5 and Xbox Series X GPU Gap Doesn’t Really Have a Development Impact – DiRT 5 Dev

In the next-gen race, while the PS5 boasts its blazingly fast SSD, the Xbox Series X touts other advantages, chief among them being its GPU, which at 12 teraflops, outmatches the PS5’s 10.28 teraflops of GPU power, at least as far as pure numbers are concerned.

The question, of course, is if this will end up making any difference from a development perspective- for instance, will developers exclusively working on the Xbox Series X be able to do more with the GPU that multiplatform devs, who also have to work with the PS5’s specs?

According to DiRT 5 lead designer Mike Moreton, that’s not going to be the case. Speaking in any interview with GamingBolt, when asked about the difference between the GPUs of the two next-gen consoles, Moreton said, “From development and gameplay perspectives, it doesn’t really have an impact. When it comes to tuning, tweaking and optimizations at the end of a game, it might mean slightly less work for one platform.”

Of course, it’s worth noting that on top of all that, multiplatform developers will also have to keep the Xbox Series S’ much less powerful GPU in mind, which means the gap between the PS5 and Xbox Series X is going to end up being irrelevant

Lol at the amount of spin to justify them NOT including a necessary cable to take advantage of CURRENT features, and FUTURE features for those who will buy a capable set this holiday season or over the next couple.... but you've never said that Sony has done a single thing wrong, so totally expected you would defend this bone-headed decision.

See, and that's the problem right there. It's like you are so stuck on getting what you only see and not what actually makes sense from a pricing point.

On one hand, you complain about how expensive the console is and on the other hand do you complain about what doesn't come in the box. Why would you sit around losing extra money on a product if everyone wasn't currently using it? Even by Christmas will these numbers not saturate the market enough. It's easier to leave the option open and allow those consumers to upgrade to it at their own discretion until that market is ripe enough to include the cable as standard. Everyone wins in this particular situation.

Hopefully is just something that an upcoming update will address.

However. Will the Series X allow for headphones with a USB Bluetooth dongle?

I think Astro said yes, but I may be wrong :(

i think only one other headset out there uses Xbox’s proprietary WiFi tech for sound, again, I forget who atm

*edit to add below

here’s some new ones and a list of others via the link

My two gripes with xsx;
No optical out
No kinect functionality

Otherwise, this coming gen seems to deliver specs well above the current standard than many earlier gens did.

These people can't be this desperate for some decent Xbox news.

Austin didn't even try a PS4 game, he only tried the UI, which did work. What didn't work was the controller connected to the Xbox console. Also, from my understanding, the PS4 controllers won't work for PS5. They didn't say the PS5 controllers won't work on PS4. And since games are backwards compatible on the PS5, whose to say the game doesn't also work? This is plan reaching.

Anyone think people will complain about either of them not including a headset? #Headphonegate20202

People will always complain. That is what complainers do. Sony is obviously in a much better position, though since they give you an option of using a headset or the standard mic feature.

No one is desperate for Xbox one, it is not the trend. People can't make money on that.

Who said anything about the X1?

Also, It sounds desperate to me. Why else would the comparison be made - especially when all the controller functions didn't even work when it was even paired to the game? It goes back to what I said earlier, though. The PS5 is 99% backwards compatible with a 4k+ library aside from 10 of those games. So we know for a fact that the DualSense fully works for those titles right down to the touchpad. If the DualSense works with the titles on the PS5 but can control the UI on the PS4, then it likely controls those games, too. So to make such a feeble comparison only comes off as desperate.

I don't think anyones desperate or reaching dude, it just looks like a fun jab, although to be fair after reading the replies that guy does come off as quite obnoxious, then I read more and realized twitter as a whole is filled with fierce plastic loving defenders.

Twitter is like an asylum, & the many users the inmates, run by inmates. Sadly, they have a monopoly & there is very little alternative. Everytime some decent alternative rise, the monopoly big tech & their cronies use the usual tactic of smear & suspression to stay monopoly.

I always wonder, do social media make people dumb, mad, or just expose their stupidlity, madness.

There is a documentry a while ago about a person, that has anger management issues. when driving. He would curse & swear at other drivers for the smallest of things like get off the lights 1/2 sec slow etc. But the interesting thing is, once he was out of his car, he become a different person. He could wait in line in a queue & be quiet & patient, & genrally nice.

So the question is, is he, when in a car, with the safety of not being confronted, the real him, or the person out of the car the real him?

I wonder if that was me in the documentary.
