Frames dropping is the most noticeable and can even be felt ie added input lag when it's happening.
PC gamers have raved what a difference it makes for a couple years. I don't have personal experience. My 120fps monitor needs a display port adapter. I generally trust PC gamers on that kind of stuff since the audience is the most sensitive when it comes to frames. They say it minimizes the impact of drops...especially small ones. The tipping point where it can be felt isn't something I'm an expert on. Either way, the instability of frames on the Series X is a temp issue.

Both consoles have issues, part of every launch. There is just no way to gather concise and accurate info on the exact number of consoles with problems unless you're Sony or MS themselves. Anyone telling you otherwise are just guessing, especially social media. If you don't want to risk it, wait a few months for the next batch of consoles or until they admittedly state that the issues are fixed.

As someone who works in data and analytics, I know better to put much stock into anecdotal evidence. That said, the PS5 issues are making me a bit nervous. Occasional crashes can be a software problem. For example on Xbox, Borderlands 3 is almost guaranteed to crash your Series X. Artifacting and crashes that happen across a broad spectrum of games appear to be hardware level and I've seen multiple reports of that from friends with PS5s. Still nervous about the smart shift/high clocks on the PS5. Not enough evidence to make a statement about it but enough that I'm personally nervous. Either way, if you buy any launch console, you must get a warranty.

Very few of MS's studios are known for making high level looking games, Bethesda included. I love the ES series but they aren't known for how good they look and Fallout is ugly AF.
Yes, Bethesda made ugly but also buggy games. The creation engine they use is older than most fortnite players.

look at some replies from the tweet and I am losing hope for humanity and I think people are getting dumber. At least the west, or at least the people who regular at twitter.
I don't see any replies when I check, isn't he jumping to conclusions as the cause though? If that were the case wouldn't all of them be doing that? Clearly there are going to be defective units, that's typical in any hardware launch. Mine hasn't done anything like that at all, I've had 2 software related crashes but no issues with anything else. The thing doesn't even get warm to the touch after hours of playing Demon's Souls and AC Valhalla, you can feel a little warmth near the back where the vents are but the top (sides if verticle) feel nice and cool.

Watching some faceoffs on YouTube and I happen to like a more contrast and saturated color video game image but the roles this gen appeared to be reversed. PS5 has more pop in the image it renders but it’s crushing blacks. While Xbox looks more washed out but with more detail.

Hard to verify unless we have sales number. If PS5 sold more than. Xbox series x, then all things equal, will have higher refund.
I wouldn't expect too much difference in sales right now. Both are selling what they can manufacture. Neither should have a major manufacturing advantage.

That said, whether it's Xbox Series or PS5, if you have crashes in multiple games or artifacting, be prepared to trade your launch unit as soon as you're able to. My Scorpio One X had periodic crashing issues which I ignored because they weren't super frequent. As the gen went on and games got more demanding, it became more frequent. There wasn't even widespread issues with the One X. These things usually get worse, not better. I regret not acting early when under warranty. Nobody should hesitate to trade in launch units. Regardless of which one is worse right now, they'll all be worse in terms of reliability than later batches.
