Good to know these multiplat differences are so small that it'll take some website to point them out because I'd never be able to tell the difference. I still don't have a PS5 yet but its nice to know my plan is still a go for most gaming on XSX and PS5 only for its exclusives.

The primary reason for this scheme is because of storage space or the lack thereof on the PS5. The XSX has about 150gigs more space, not to mention it already has a plan in place to expand its storage capacity. So unless Sony releases something similar they get less of my gaming dollars.

Reading a lot into head to heads based on where everything is at right now is like determining who's best equipped to win a championship after the first week in a sports season.

From multiple devs...its hard to get close to the metal on Series X to optimize. Theres bugs causing inefficiencies. Series X is currently punching below its weight due to challenges with optimization. These issues are before anyone has even touched RDNA2 features.

Devs are porting code from an old dev environment to a new one during a pandemic. Fewer new variables or challenges makes a big difference right now. Its magnified.

Could PS5 win head to heads in the future? Sure. Point is nothing today is indicative of anything in the future once fuller implementation of ray tracing, more advanced physics, more advanced AI and ML becomes part of next gen development. Each first party is going to be focused on leveraging the bespoke hardware advantages. The ML stuff on the Xbox side will matter for gaming (not just enterprise) and thats what they waited for.

No dev has complained about Series X hardware. Not to me. Not in an interview. Not to DF behind the scenes. Many have shared challenges with the tools. I think its a very simple case.

Some differences aren't small

And Demon's Souls is special.

But yeah XSX is a great device.
The UI is great as far as ease of use and I luv the fact that we not only get more storage but the option to buy more storage.
You can do a simple plug and play to add more AND buy multiple over time if you wanted.

Imagine one card could hold FPS games and another RPG's etc.

Very awesome

Yeah and when the pendulum swings the other way, its good to remember. This stuff is insignificant. I think it distracts from the better conversations. Hope when it swings back people just let it go. I bet more than 95% of gamers could play both versions and not see or feel a difference.

LOD bug the devs said will be patched. Its one of the most irrelevant things to this conversation.

Do you have any idea why Sony didn't go with a 1terrabyte HDD instead of the weird size they packed into the PS5?

Its strange that the PS5 has less space than my PS4 Pro.

Something to do with the fact that it's using chips on the mb instead of a drive.

It's TERRIBLE that we can't add more and what also sux is the fact that when we do add more we will have to OPEN UP the PS5 and screw it in....plus the price/s I am afraid to know when it's announced, finally 1TB will not be enough so I will have to aim for a 2TB WITH HEATSINKS which could be $500.

Much lower details is a design choice not a bug.
It still hasn't been fixed and maybe it will be but expect sacrifices to be made somewhere else to make this possible.
No. Its a LOD bug. The devs confirmed it. Its public knowledge. They haven't fixed it yet.

Am I the only one who buys and resell games when I'm done with them? I feel like I can do without adding any storage at all since I just delete the ones I'm done with. Haven't had to do it for the whole PS4 generation and so far don't see any reason for a change unless new games start to become super huge ...

Back in the day I did that. Not any more. I like having a huge digital backlog and having any game at my finger tips. I do go back and play old games. When stuff slows down, I'll be going back to the Splinter Cell collection. I bought the expansion and my nearly 2TB was nearly filled up thanks to Game Pass. Nothing wrong with your approach though. I play games like the ADD gamer. Opposite of a completionist. I'm addicted to starting new things but never finishing. lol

I've gone digital quite some time ago. I used to be against it because like you I used to resell/trade-in old games but I just don't bother with that these days. And I also have the bad habit of purchasing games before I've finished the last so there's a constant rotation of old & new games in rotation. And don't even get me started about how Gamepass makes game juggling and storage management even more difficult.

I used to be a completionist but I've stopped because it took too much time lol. I only play through the game once now unless I really like it like FF7 Remake where I put in 80 hours for the platinum.

I don't know if I've ever sold a game back. Now I just wait until most games are on sale for $20-30 and just buy them digitally. Cheaper and easier. I'm about a year behind on most games, so I just grab them for $20.

I wasn't sure if I'll get the regular or digital PS5, but I decided to go digital (if I ever find one). The only thing I have is some 4k movies on disk, and I have the XSX for that.

So after having PS5 for a week but having to work I finally unboxed it and set it up. Very first impressions is this thing is obnoxiously big and offensive. It’s worse than the first Xbox. Setup was easy enough. I went vertical with the stand. Controller is fine.....played with previous PS controllers before. Home screen is beautiful. I love the blues and HDR....it pops. Overall it’s different. The jump from Xbox One to One X felt more of the same but better. This is new which is what I was looking for.

Also- this is a observation I have not seen in reviews/first impressions. There is a light bar on the inner base of the black portion of the console that goes along both sides which brings even more attention to it. I honestly can’t get over the size of it and this thing got presented in a boardroom as the successor to PS4. The internals components must be that good as to why and/or just a general feeling by PS of it just doesn’t matter.....we are going to sell 100 million of these regardless.

The very first design of the console by the artists called for it to be even bigger but that got shot down. lol.

I believe the overheating issues for sure in development. I think this will be a Duke controller story in the end. Well we have a console to ship but.....but we don’t a presentable box yet to keep it cool says PS engineers. Well.....we have a console to ship......make it work says PS brass. Ok Cerny, Jim Ryan and company.....we have this suitcase form factor with giant fans....it’s atrocious but it works says PS design. PS marketing steps in and says our customers are sheep.....we can makeup some dumb story about how awesome this design is and they will buy it hook, line, and sinker.

The gaming experience is a lot more fulfilling than the size, which is where PlayStation usually excels at. Generally, it is this reason the console sells, while its appearance takes a backseat to this. Not that appearances don't matter, but if you've spent most of your time as a gamer staring at your console rather than playing it, then you probably didn't have very many games to play on it.

Form factor matters a lot. As a fan of Apple products PS5’s design is atrocious. You have to live with it in the end. For older gamers not everyone wants a box that screams.....yeah I still play video games. Not to mention after playing around with it a few hours this console is half baked (which I fully expected). Since I have a One X I knew the samey feeling of a XSX upgrade would be underwhelming so overall I’m happy with the purchase. I’m sure PS5 will get better over time. But to any XSX fan getting discouraged by DF videos showing the console losing faceoffs by a few frames then they shouldn’t. Yeah I’m sure the samey feeling of more the same is likely there but you are taking ALOT for granted by having a fully baked OS.

You don't play the case you play the games.
It's not sheep its GAMERS who want solid games.

The game development seems to be either managed by incompetent people or greedy people, at times both.

If I know I am shipping a new console in holidays 2020, I will be activating my first party studies to make games that show off next-gen visuals in 2017.2018.
Wouldn't you?

That's what they did. Halo started in mid-2017 based on job postings.

Not sure why you feel so angry towards people. Seems like you're trying to constantly talk yourself and others out of buying one. If you want exclusives, then wait for them? Not sure what your issue is.

Not greed, they f***ed up graphically and animation wise, gameplay looks great if you're a Halo fan.
If you didn't like Halo before, this most likely won't change your mind.

I'm a huge Halo fan, but imo the gameplay they showed was a major letdown visually, but gameplay looked amazing imo.
