What's up with that fields level though, some sort of bottleneck somewhere in the Xbox system?

On balance you are wrong. It’s not even close. Even PS5’s RDNA3 can’t make up the difference. XSX has to win by 20 across the board to have a true “win” in your mind. If IO lowered the resolution and just let the frames run then the XSX would be running circles around PS5.

And then it would 'lose' because they had to drop something.

Interesting. So finally XSX has the resolution and high shadows advantage here. What's up with that fields level though, some sort of bottleneck somewhere in the Xbox system? Consistent drops to 50's and then in sniper zoom mode drops to 40fps while the PS5 is perfect holding 60FPS throughout. Just a case of the higher clocked GPU in the PS5 being able to maintain 60fps?

Will see if this is a bug as we hear more from other individuals that will be doing the comparisons too like VGTech and NXGamer to compare.
It's a bug. Best support of that is that it's consistent across both consoles (S/X). Both consoles have different GPUs yet use same APIs, general code and CPU. They shouldn't struggle with frames equally in the exact same spot unless there's a bug or API issue. Fact that it's only one spot is the other sign.

I was told last week it would be a year before the Series X tools normalized to the point it's achieving it's potential in relation to how well the PS5 meets it's potential so this is kind of surprising. IOI may simply be a lot more proficient with Direct X. I don't think it means Xbox will win the rest of these faceoffs this year. Still going to take some time from what I was told directly by a developer.

One has a better resolution and one has a better fps.
No clear winner but the consumer who can't go wrong with either version.

If PS5 went to 4K it would likely perform the same as XSX or better.

If XSX dropped it's resolution it would likely get a solid 60 like PS5.

It's a performance issue.
Resolution or shadows get reduced and it's improved my better sources tell me.

Your sources? Influencers don't count as sources.

As I've said before, I'm not overly invested in performance delta. If PS5 won 100% of the face-offs by 50%, I'm still playing wherever Elite 2 can be used as a first option. Just giving some people a heads up to get off this ride based on what developers say behind the scenes. It's not why most buy PS5's anyways. It's the exclusives, Dual Sense, their friends or the UI. Don't make it about performance faceoffs long term. It's not going to end well. PS5 should still win it's share of faceoffs over the next 6 to 10 months but it'll flip for good after that.

Keep an eye on Battlefield this year...

If both versions could run the same then they would. But IO felt the best version for PS5 was a quarter of the resolution, with less effects for a stable 60fps. IO also felt the best XSX version was upping the resolution and effects for some minor frame drops. In this faceoff PS5 just doesn’t have it to keep up.

Huh 40 fps isn't minor.

Common sense is a better source then bs spin.
BF will likely be marketed by MS so expect little extra umph.
Just like Activision and COD.

That ain't no cut scene.

Did I quote that bit? No i quoted the cutscene of the F1 car which dips to 40fps on All consoles for a split second that it didn't effect the game at all.

Already said that's likely a performance issue that will be fixed. But I'll be too busy actually enjoying the game to notice a half a second dip

Worse than the PS5 version.
Both have negatives are you saying I'm wrong?
No I just don't think a drop in a small area is a big issue, if it was dropping frames all the time I would agree with you.

Does seem odd it drops frames in that area and not in a bustling crowded area or that night level with all the lighting.

One out of the 6 levels is significant especially since it's 40 fps with lower details while aiming.
