They selling you a future that may or may not happen and you'll be waiting years to see it..

Honestly the XSX is a boring console release. I don't understand where the hype is coming ftom. The 1st year line up is astrocious.

I don't see value in spending 500+ for old games. The AAA titles don't hit Gamepass untill much later. Everything people hype is stuff I could do now.

My main reason for buying consoles are GAMES. All the hype around Xbox is everything but actual games.

Exactly. I wanna see Gears/Halo brought to the next level. I wanna see mind blowing new IP's for Xbox. They only seem to do enough to get by and the fans are satisfied with anything.

Weird. I actually play games on my Xbox.

I'm guessing both consoles are going to be very hard to get. People keep talking about additional stock coming, but that hasn't happened yet. If anything, people are being told their preorders might not happen.

Yeah I was wondering that, especially since Amazon has said they may not be able to fulfill all their X preorders either. I’m guessing it’s not limited to just them.

This is only a jerk reaction to no games. You didn't respond to any of my points. 😂

What triple games in the near future can I get for Xbox not on Playstation?

Anyone else get picked for Sony’s lottery for a lottery preorder lottery?

You know how they said the ps5 looks like a New Jersey router with a dad bod, well now the series x has some competition....
I said "Formal Night on the Jersey Shore". Feel free to spread that around, but I want credit!

I mostly play third party games. Sony has a few ips that i really like. Same with Microsoft.

I guess im not a true Sony fan since I'm not in love with every single one of their franchises.

VaLLiancE will have a hard time with DF this gen by that logic.

Val isn't a fanboy he judges more on a game by game basis, he'll call me a sony fanboy if I say I like a PlayStation game he doesn't like but if you say you don't like Gears 5 he'll come after you :) he likes what he likes and it's not really based on the hardware manufacturer.

We will have that option on both consoles and to me it's the one that makes the most sense, you can get a 5TB external HDD for half the price of the plug and play Xbox SSD. I've been saying the same thing for a while now as far as that being the best option.

My point about the file sizes is they use two games as their example but those games aren't out of line with current gen AAA titles, why not wait until you actually have a game that's size is incredible before writing a story like that? I guess it's because that's now how "journalism" works on the internet and everything has to be sensationalized for clicks.
I don't tgink game sizes are going to increase much. Most people seem to be forgetting that texture res isn't going to increase over the current mid gen consoles. Plus game sizes will initially shrink due to inherant SSD advantages and better compression.

All said and done, I think game sizes will be what they are now. Most being around the 50GB mark.

Roughly 200GB Will Be Reserved for the Xbox Series X OS and System Files

To be exact, the Xbox Series OS (and other system related files and operations) will be taking up 198GB of the internal 1TB SSD that ships with the console. Meaning come November, buyers will only have 802GB of usable space that they can use to download games, media applications, recording, game saves and other types of related data.

To compare, the original Xbox One and PS4 shipped with a 500GB hard drive, with 138GB reserved for the Xbox One OS and system files and 92GB for the PS4. Moving up, the Xbox One X reserved about 220GB according to Forbes, with the PS4 Pro reportedly reserving somewhere between 200-220GB.

Looks like the os alone is 98 gigs, maybe smaller (I don’t know/remember)...where the remaining 100 is set aside for devs to use as a sort of v-ram for their game, Austin Evans and DF mentioned it in their hands on previews when they visited MS.

The idea, in basic terms at least, is pretty straightforward - the game package that sits on storage essentially becomes extended memory, allowing 100GB of game assets stored on the SSD to be instantly accessible by the developer. It's a system that Microsoft calls the Velocity Architecture and the SSD itself is just one part of the system.

No matter how much space is reserved for the OS people like us are going to have to have external storage for these machines regardless of which one you get, that's just the reality of it, that or just download and delete games as you go. The move to SSD was always going to make it so actual storage space was going to be stuck at around 1TB at best. The benefits of going to SSD especially custom SSD's that improve the speeds even further far outweigh the loss in storage space IMO.

I tend to play a game till I'm done and then delete. Have 1 or 2 other games installed at the same time. But even for me, tge potential 300GB on XSS is going to be struggle. 400GB would be manageable. 800GB on the XSX I would never fill up.

Well that back from March. This here would be from the final build.

The platform creators should have solutions available, That are ease of use for the average gamer. For this issue.
there are many lost sales even on pc because I ran out of space and decide not to download certain games. If storage And internet speed isn’t an issue, I will probably have double the game i owned.

We also have to consider dlc. Sometimes I kept games I completed waiting for DLC. Also many MP games will only keep getting larger With new maps and cosmetic.

the more I think about it, the more I think Xbox S is poor value for money. 1/2 storage space, even less even 3/:cool: if you consider 200gb for OS and apps, no disc ( bye bye used games and trading) , and can’t game at 4K. 1/2 month after buying, you will need to get a 200 ssd that make the cost of the x box x, but still no 4K gaming and disc drive. Sure you get 500gb more, but the Xbox x just more value.

You Save Money initial only to spend similar to The full Xbox x but still a gimp version.

I reckon I’ll be able to store between 8-12 games on the Series X SSD. I don’t anticipate much of a problem copying a game every now and again between SSD/HDD. I haven’t tried it but I read somewhere you can manage your storage from the Xbox app on your phone too. It’s not like we’re going to have to be re-downloading as I’m sure pretty much every one here has a hefty HDD from this gen. By the time the refresh consoles are out in 3/4 years hopefully we’ll be able to pick up SSD for a lot cheaper.

Yeah, but thhose are par for the course things. I'm just talking base day 1 game sizes relative to what we have now.

Very few people will buy that SSD. I won't buy that SSD and i'm a hardcore gamer.
