Fascinating.

I remember a $600 PS3.

Blocking cross platform play.

And paying to keep exclusives off other platforms.

I guess I just have a vivid memory of both platform holders pulling s***. Don't care how often....they both have done and both are capable of doing it often or not as often.

Interesting to know that Sony can do no wrong in your eyes.
Blocking cross platform play is a bit unfair, that only lasted a short time and MS didn't start doing it until they once again came in 3rd and needed some good will. MS started live to make sure people on xbox only played with other people on xbox and maybe PC and so they could be the first one to charge for online play. Sony was also giving free games before xbox and never charged to play free to play online games. You are right both companies pull s*** but when it comes to online stuff I think MS has been the bigger offender.

The paying for exclusives is something all 3 companies do and it does suck when it comes to 3rd parties, keeping others from playing a game I can play doesn't do anything to benefit me. I don't know why Sony paid for that timed exclusivity for those two bethesda games, the Tokyo whatever it is looks like it should be a free PS+ game and the other one looks like it could be fun but there was no reason to pay to keep that from xbox players, it's not going to be a big game. The thing is MS also pays for exclusives but it's a practice I wish both would stop engaging in.

If you are saying that I don't critique Sony than you haven't been paying attention.

The PS3 was originally announced for $600 USD. We were told to get 2 jobs to pay for it. The videos are on Youtube if you need a refresher.

I'm saying you are bias....but that is okay. I don't care. No one should. That said it doesn't help credibility at all. That is what I'm saying.

I can critique Burger King but still like their burgers better than McDonalds. Hence being bias.

Xbox Series X just beat PS5 to this killer AMD graphics upgrade

Xbox game developers can offer boosted visuals thanks to AMD's FidelityFX software.

The Xbox Series X just got a healthy graphics update. It’s all thanks to AMD’s ‘FidelityFX’ technology, which has just been added to the Series X and Xbox Series S’ Game Development Kits (via VideoCardz).

Not only does this mean the next-gen Xbox consoles can now get similar graphics boosts as AMD-powered PCs, it gives the Xbox Series X a major boost over the PS5.

FidelityFX is a piece of AI-powered software that is able to offer a number of adaptive graphics enhancements for developers to include in their games. That includes variable shading, image sharpening, ambient occlusion, screen space reflections and more.

The point being that the visuals of a game can get a significant upgrade, without game performance being sacrificed in the process. That’s going to be especially useful for the Xbox Series S, which is notable for having less impressive hardware than the larger and more powerful Series X.

Unfortunately, since FidelityFX has only just been added to Xbox’s development kits, it’s going to be a while before you’ll be able to experience all its benefits. After all game development takes time, even if the developers decide it’s worth retro-actively adding FidelityFX enhancements to previously-released titles.

There’s no word on FidelityFX coming to PS5, which is going to disappoint the people lucky enough to pick up Sony’s latest console. But, this isn’t to say that it will never happen.

Especially since the PS5 uses similar AMD hardware to the Xbox Series X, packing in a 3.5GHz Zen 2 CPU and a 10.28-teraflop RDNA 2 GPU. So it’s not like there are going to be hardware compatibility issues to worry about.

It’ll all be down to AMD and Sony coming to an arrangement, and making sure PS5 development kits can access the same tech. Let’s just hope that it happens sooner, rather than later. Especially with all the big PS5 exclusives titles on the way.

They had 2 models period.
Show me actual proof that Sony wasn't going to release 2 models.
Even if that wasn't the case it was by launch so the point would still be nil.
Nobody does it like Sony and MS does a lot of wrong.
If that's bias than I am bias.

You are very biased and very often wrong on top of it.

Netflix is on EVERY device and a household name.
Ima keep mentioning this when the dumb comparisons are made.

Most people don't know about Gamepass or even Xbox.
Need to look at trends. Not a single point in time. Where Game Pass is today relative to it's age is extremely favorable to any other successful sub in an unestablished market. Disney jumped in on a very established market. It took Netflix a long time to hit 10 million subs. Changes in tech allowed it to become more accessible. Same thing is happening in the gaming industry. I understand why people here think streaming or playing AAA games on tablets won't happen...but they will. Kids who grew up playing on phone and tablets are now becoming teenagers and adults. Adults look for more convenience options. Streaming won't replace consoles or PC gamers. It will significantly expand the market. Exponentially. Even among hardcore. Many of them will using streaming as their secondary platforms. As complimentary options. It's why so many major corporations are investing in gaming. Gaming is considered one of the safest investments right now.

I don't think we are going to really see a true representation of what either console can do for another 2 years, they are still doing cross gen stuff and games are being made on engines that aren't going to fully utilize what the hardware is capable of.
Yeah this is standard in non-pandemic starts for generations. There's many more variables this gen. I don't see mid gens making much sense. Pipelines will need to change to adjust to new possibilities. Long term, they'll gain efficiencies doing 1 for 1 tasks though.

I still don't understand the online only excuse. They still sell PS4, XBO and Switch in stores. Wtf would be so different?

Why would I? I've been here for YEARS lol, I have a Series X coming in the next couple of days, ordered it this morning like a moron lol but I still don't know what the hell I'm going to play on it for the next year or two. BTW It was really easy to get one, just follow the restock info on twitter, got one from gamestop this morning on my first try. Sadly they were only doing it through all access so like it or not I'm a GPU member for 2 years so yes I know I complain about GP but it was also the only way to get the system purchased today and my impatient impulse buying ass couldn't wait. I will probably use the service less than anyone else who has it lol.
Looks like they went through that shipment pretty fast. They're unavailable again.

I guess you just got.....lucky?

Think about this. Think about what JinCa did and said:

  • Bought the most expensive Xbox, but doesn't like Xbox
  • Bought the most expensive Xbox, and doesn't think it will have a game in 1 to 2 years
  • Bought the most expensive Xbox and bought Game Pass for two years, and doesn't like Game Pass or Xbox
  • Bought the most expensive Xbox with EASE, yet Xbox fans are still paying thousands from scalpers to get one
  • Bought the most expensive Xbox and Game Pass and said "I will use the service less than anyone else who has it lol"
  • Bought the most expensive Xbox and applied for credit to do it

If you call that lucky, I guess I would rather be lucky enough to run my penis through paper shredder than have that much luck.

We are so lucky to have him shred the Xbox apart for this next entire gen 9.

come on wtf GIF by Collider

Now we are bringing another popular living room brand to compare with Xbox/Gamepass?

I will repeat GP needs to be on the most popular gaming platform to succeed and most don't know what it is like they do Netflix and Disney +(known by all and work with everything)

Based on what data? Playstation gamers will be able to pick up their Dual Sense and play Game Pass games through a TV app...or web browser. Just because you're repeating nonsense, it doesn't make it true.

Game Streaming market is farrrrr from a worth mentioning thing.
Especially if we are talking about something that will change the norm.
See me in 10 years.

Bro...it is straight up anti-consumer/anti gamer.

You can't cherry pick that I'm sorry.

Both companies have dabbled in this asshattery.
It was never a thing, MS and Nintendo didn't allow it either for over a decade, MS only allowed it because they it benefited them at the time, if xbox had been doing better you can be sure this never would have happened.

This opinion is based on what source? Have to do better than repeat your gut feeling.

I just paid attention lol, I wasn't saying they are just sitting around waiting to be bought but it was the first time I even put any effort into getting one and got it on my first try.

Right place right time. Like when I got my XSX.

Yes, but my point is both companies have and do do negative things.

I'm not putting on a cheerleader outfit for either Sony or Microsoft.

Acting like one is better and truly cares about the individual gamer is obtuse.

Companies are neither good nor evil. They're machines. The operators of these machines change over time. As do the roads they drive on. They all have 1 single goal. Make as much profit as possible. They will try to do that by whatever means possible. Only limitations are the law and what the marketplace allows them to get away with. Fortunately as a primarily Xbox customer, the executives in charge realize they can't get away with s*** with the gaming customers right now.

This entire good vs evil narrative shows how wrapped up you are in this fantasy war Val.
