It is very simple. If you watched someone do it once you should be pretty comfortable doing it yourself. You just need to know how to use a screwdriver.
From the way Xbox fans have been describing it, you would think they were talking about operating a brain surgery.
And no, it would not void your warranty because there is no seal to access the expansion slot.

What am I spinning? Sounds more like Xbox fans are spinning how "hard" expanding the SSD is.
It's basically the same as the PS4 since 2013. No issues or concerns then so should be no issues or concerns now.

Anyone complaining about the PS5 expansion - you guys also have difficulty assembling your TV stands, coffee tables, book shelves, chairs and beds after ordering from IKEA? Because this PS5 SSD installation is much easier than that.
Xbox expansion is easier and PS5 gives you more options and will probably be more cost effective. You can also do more than 1TB so if you want to go crazy and spend $500 on a 2TB internal drive you'll have to screw that thing in once and be done with it, xbox you'd have to swap cards. Either way neither of these things are difficult to do, one is just slightly more involved.
As a PC gamer and builder, I see the PS5 SSD installation a non issue for me.

Xbox sulution is better. Not even close.
A) The Size of external SSD will probably increase over time, making the arugment of more space for internal drive viod.
B) You can still use the old eternal SSD when you buy new ones. So the more you buy, the more storage you have additively . For PS5, you need to REPLACE an existing one. Sure you can sell to EBay or your neighbor kid, but it will be a loss & inconvience. Also there is a limit to the size of the internal drive before the cost become ridiculous (NOt to mention bigger SSD tends to also have heat sink which PS5 cannot put) so I don't think the its cheaper is that valid. , Siure you can swap internal drive, but thats 15 min each time.
C) Sure, many here maybe find it simple to install, but many people are uncomfortable to open up a hardware.
I am sure PS5 is well design, but the internal SSD that required opening the PS5 is a poor decision.
You are not replacing anything in the PS5 that's an expansion bay, the actual internal SSD is soldered to the motherboard I don't know where you guys are getting the idea that you are replacing it lol and there are a few already listed that have heat sink which does fit, again I don't know where you read they don't but several do fit with the heat sink.
Xbox's expansion solution is more convenient for sure but if you want more than 1TB you'll have to swap cards from the back, you can put an internal 2TB in the PS5 that costs under $500 right now (on sale). The ones Cerny is putting in his has the 2TB on sale for under $500 with the heat sink. Once you have that in you'll have 2TB of extra storage and not need to worry about swapping anything as long as you can afford it. Either way the only truly inconvenient thing about expanding either is the price of these things, it's not hard to use a screw driver, you aren't even opening the main part of the console it's just a small expansion bay on the bottom.
