If you watch the gameplay demonstration during the boss fight it switches worlds and the guy narrating says it's not just some arena it's an entire level.

Right, but boss fights are generally scripted type encounters where you have stages to go through - so it could be something like "swap to world B, do something that weakens boss in world A, swap back, repeat." I'm curious to see if it's something that has an actual effect in the majority of the time you spend playing the game, or if it's just something really cool that they can use a few times to do stuff that's awesome but 99+% of the time is still traditional single-area gameplay.

PS5 & X-SeX are similar in performance (Xbox just a bit better) Just be happy with your platform of choice & enjoy game pass.

Everything comparision so far suggested difference are very miminalist like last gen where OG xbox 1 had a few pixels less than the less gimped PS4.
Fixed

Even though it wasn't. 180p is now considered destroyed? Lolz...or are you doin that stupid thing where you take the very small minority of extreme cases and ignore the other 99%?

PS4 was stronger, fact. X1 destroyed is hyperbolic nonsense.
the 180p is literally 30% different in pixel.

Also, I am here long enough that I thought people should know I often like to add comedy relief, & like to sometimes used sensational words/analaogy/etc for funny effect. Not everything I said should be taken as face value.

It is 16.6% actually.

You're just flatout wrong. That isn't sensanalist.

You cannot calculated directly using 900p and 1080p. These are conventions to describe different Resolution standards, not mathematic ratio. the 900 and 1080 are number of Vertical pixels respectively.

You have to use the actual amount of pixels by multiplying the vertical & horizonal pixel count.

1600 x 900 = 1,440,000 pixels.
1920 x 1080 = 2,073,000 pixels.

With respect to 900p
(2070-1440)/1440=0.43 or 43%
Meaning 1080p has 43% more pixels more than 900p

With respect to 1080p

(2070-1440)/2073=0.32 or 32%

Meaning 900p has 32% less pixels than 1080p

Yeah Starseeker is correct here. You need to calculate the actual total number of pixels then divide them.

It's a 44% pixel difference between 900p and 1080p and a 56% pixel difference between 720p and 900p.

Wonder if the internal components will be upgraded or more or less the same as current PS5 consoles.

They will be working with less components. The entire reason they are doing this is to manufacture more with less.

It is going to be a cut down system. Specs are going to be the same, but probably won't be as big....or could even cheap out on some other non-essential components.

That would be my guess anyway.

So maybe like the OG PS3's, best to get one of them out now.

My PS3 60gb ran like a consistent beast. No problems since I got it launch day.

Yeah something like that. I'm guessing since the launch they have been going back to the engineering design and looking at what can be slimmed down and cut to reduce costs. Current semiconductor shortage realities is forcing them to do this early.

Though I do wonder exactly how they plan on combating this issue. The SOC is the main heart of the console as well as the RAM modules. These are exactly the components that are in short supply. They could remove thermal constraints by reducing the size of the die by a factor of ~.15% and thus save on thermal cooling requirements. This would in turn require a less robust cooling solution and cut down on the size of the console.

That is a slippery slope though, because the PS5 GPU is already clocked quite high and restructuring the cooling solution could lead to an increase in thermal distribution.

We will have to wait and see how this pans out if it is true.

I am OG TeamXBOX member man, you know, a delisted XBOX fansite for "wait for it" XBOX fans.

When we knew the site was shutting down, Plainview said he would start a new site which is the UnvionVGF we love now. Many OG members support him by migrated here.

No problems with my PS3 since day one. Coincidentally it YLOD the same month the PS4 came out. Tossed it in the garbage and bought a PS4. That is what I called perfect timing. No problems with my PS4 OG nor any issues with my PS4 Pro.

30%, fine. Makes no difference as the reality of this all destroying 30% is actually minimal. It would be like me sitting here saying a 10% performance increase destroys the PS5.

The DF technical review of RE:Village:

In short:

Faster loading on PS5.

Better performance on Series X with RT on.

RT off and PS5 & SX are the same.

Series S struggles with RT.

Pick your poison.

I picked this title up on PC. That is where I'm playing it.

PS5 doesn't seem to be made for RT... Oh well, maybe the inevitable pro version will be less gimped.

The one flaw in that plan is that you had to have pre-ordered one in 2011 to be able to get one now.

I actually was lucky because one of my buds alerted me soon after Sony announced preorder timeline that Bestbuy had theirs up early so I got my physical disc one there.

All the games released since launch disagrees with you. There will be lots more to come this gen that fully support raytracing as well. 🤷‍♂️
