Graphics are literally the same. PS5 has crushed blacks which is game related issue. Only difference is resolution scaling. PS5 version has smoother performance though. Game not optimized for SSD. Game seems to rely more on a single thread of CPU for loading on all versions.

Just finished watching the DF video, the TLDR's:

-Colour reproduction difference: PS5 looks more like the "deependark" launch parameter setting on PC, XS looks more like the SDR colour reproduction
-DF unsure what the direction is here from the devs for the different colour reproduction
-Game settings wise are the same for both PS5/XSX in terms of LOD, AF, textures, shadows etc.
-On average, PS5 is about 150-200p less resolution than the XSX due to the more aggressive DRS. Internal resolution is reconstructed up to an output of 4K with temporal AA upsampling technique.
-In general, PS5 game performance is smoother than the XSX, less dips and stuttering than the XS and no multiple frame stutters or drops in a row as found in the XSX version.
-Loading times/API aren't optimized for current gen SSD's. In general, loading times are similar for the XS/PS5 with PC coming out on top.

So basically:

Huh, interesting.

Surprised DF didn't note that in their analysis when they compared the load times.

Of course Google search doesn't search what is said in videos, so I don't know how to find it. But a search has found similar comments.

@abe_hikura This game doesn’t leverage the next-gen storage API (Velocity Architecture) on Xbox Series consoles. Once games start utilising those APIs like Direct Storage, Sampler Feedback etc the loading will be near-instantaneous on Xbox Series and PC.

It’s like in the Village demo where neither of these console versions were utilising the next-gen storage APIs so the loading times were very close between each other.

Developers confirmed that game don't use Velocity Architecture on Xbox

So maybe we'll start to see some of this in action late 2021 if not 2022.

Jim Ryan: Yes, the output during the PS4 cycle was excellent, but the great majority of those games came in the second half of the cycle. We made a conscious effort to improve on that this time around, and what you've seen thus far shows that we've certainly made progress. In just a few months since the launch of PS5, we have released incredible games and have so much more in the pipeline.

And developers are really just getting started taking advantage of the technology in PS5. I can't wait to see what PlayStation Studios and our third-party partners create for PS5. If games like Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Returnal, and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart are examples of what you can achieve in the first six months of PS5, imagine what we will see in year two or three.

Elsewhere in the Axios interview, Ryan seemed to indirectly address the recent spending spree of their rivals Microsoft as well as reports Sony is starting to become more conservative about what they’ll greenlight, saying successful development is a matter of creative freedom, not “throwing money at it”…

Nurturing creative talent is not as simple as throwing money at it. You also must give them the freedom to be creative, to take risks and come up with new ideas. Just look at Ghost of Tsushima from Sucker Punch. That was not the game we thought they were going to make, but we are not overly rigid or corporate with our talent. We want them to use our hardware as their creative palette.

Interesting, just like last gen when ps4 usually had higher res but Xbox one often had a better lock in the framerate (logically by having lower res).
Very strange to see that ps5 gets crushed in load times too.
Maybe a drop by 50-100$ of the ps5 price would better match the power of the machine in relation to the seemingly superior xsx?

Also, it's not a good look for xss, I'm keeping my xonex a few years until it stops getting new games.

It's likely if the PS5 and XSX had like for like res they'd have like for like performance, the fact that they are pushing a few more pixels on the xbox is probably what's causing the framerate "issues" so to speak although let's be real here, 150-200p lower res or a few frames lower here and there don't mean anything either way.

The X1 had a slight CPU clock speed advantage over than the PS4 (160GHz v 175GHz) so when there was a slight framerate advantage it was pushing a lower res along with a higher cpu clock speed.

So... Ps5 @ $249?

Says the man who only makes GT
Right, even Ryan himself (or is it the interviewer) kinda contradicts himself with “Sony is starting to become more conservative about what they’ll greenlight, saying successful development is a matter of creative freedom”

In my mind conservative development would be drawing within the lines on a single page like ea sports games

is that why we won’t see a days gone part 2 or destruction allstars sequel

Regarding Horizon 5

https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2021-was-e3-2021-a-game-changer-for-microsoft

There's a huge amount to digest in the content we were shown, but the headlines are clear enough - an unprecedented level of detail in Playground's latest open world, right down to the individual needles of each cactus, Crysis-level jungle density (complete with freshly minted volumetric lighting) and a sense of scale both at close and long range - there are some truly extraordinary vista shots here with phenomenal draw distance.

...

And in the process, Xbox went one stage further in comprehensively taking down the argument that its first-party line-up is lacking, while at the same time addressing the cross-gen controversy that made it feel like Microsoft wasn't fully committed to the concept of delivering games tailored to the strengths of the new wave of console and PC hardware. This one had it all - and perhaps it actually delivered too much, to the detriment of some of the games shown.
