There is no difference between extremist christians and any other religion. They are just treated different because they are mostly white, at least here in the states.

Should label extremist christians as terrorist threats to the country.
Extremists are scary no matter what religion they practice, I will say I don't see many extremist Christians carrying out suicide bombings but if that does happen one day I won't pretend to be shocked.

In talking with a few chaplains, there's one sticking point which I'm having trouble with.
They say that no matter the amount of good deeds you have done or the type of good life you've led, if you don't worship and accept Jesus as your savior, you can’t enter heaven.

Not to be sacreligeous, but that seems kind of petty.
I believe God can judge your heart.

My wonderful Mother wasn't religious. But if she's not in Heaven after the life she led, then there’s something wrong.

If there is some omniscient benevolent creator, do you really think it's necessary for there to be 3rd party (i.e. organized religion) to be involved for a relationship with that being? If it feels correct that your mother being a kind and loving person means she's in a much better place, then maybe its possible it's your own intuitive connection to the benevolent being telling you she's alright?

Bibles and such have been translated so many times that they could not be correct and also you can't trust that humans didn't change things to suit their needs at any given time in history.

I've also read interpretations that say Christ was a person but a archetypal conscious way of being that people need to accept. So if someone is living a life kind, respectful, loving etc life to others then they have accepted that Christ consciousness. I assume your mom fits in this category.

You keep telling yourself that fortune cookie fairy tale.
To quote an actual learned man:

“All I know is that I know nothing at all “
Socrates.
Just to be pedantic: Therefor he knows something and can't know nothing at all.

How did them choosing to instead listen to the serpent work out?

After Jesus died, the 'Good News' was spread even to those in Hell. Maybe they were redeemed. Or this was in the 'Plan' from the beginning. I mean would God have really wanted Humans to loaf around chilling in Eden forever?

But if they are the sourse of Original Sin and accepted Jesus, is that Sin forgiven and therefor retro-actively wiped? Is a lot of Christianity making a big fuss over something that has been dealt with already?

Also, how is this scene not in any movie? This would be so metal.

How would they be the source of original sin? The snake already existed.

Only unlearned people need their moral guidance to be provided by a story.

Those who are learned know there is no other way.
I think you overly simplify things here, but yeah, organized religion can lead to some f***ed up things.
That said, for some people (criminals, severely depressed, people hard on sorrow etc) it can make them turn their lives around and do good to themselves and others... Maybe not the best way to live like a slave to a doctrine, but it's better than suicide or keep hurting others.

I'm an atheist, but have a few (very few though) semi religious friends (prob at worst they're like your everyday church going amerikan) and I don't judge them (their god prob will though).

People who had faith before the Word/Jesus came in the flesh were the captives he set free from the grave.

We get 3 gifts.
1. Life
2. Free will
3. Eternal Life

One and two are automatically given and the third has to be received by Faith.

If god has a plan for you you do not have free will. Same goes for “everything going according to gods plan.”
