Life is Strange

"Life is Strange is one of the year’s most acclaimed storytelling games, but it nearly didn’t get made.

“Dontnod visited us to show us a different project. We decided quite quickly that it wasn’t for us, and it was one of those great moments when they said — it was almost like a postscript to the meeting — ‘OK, we are also working on this.’ “You could instantly see the jaws drop, and the reaction and desire to start playing with it.”

“The game came out of that encounter. We love what the team is doing; we feel we can help them and we are really pleased we got to work with Dontnod.”

"Life is Strange recently picked up two Develop awards for industry excellence, winning in the categories for best new intellectual property and best narrative."

USA not getting the final episode until 16:00 PDT. Really excited for the ending. I hope someday we can have games like this beyond just small indie games. I really like this style of storytelling.

Just finished the last episode. At first I thought they were going to make a cheap exit (based on the first 20 minutes or so), but they didn't. They did a really nice job. Lots of creativity and imagination on display, emotional moments, mind-bending twists, and a tough choice. I'm still not sure how to sort it all out in my head.

This series was a remarkable achievement, especially for such a small team. One of the most original games I've ever played.

I still haven't played Life is Strange yet. You've got me interested though Andy. I'll have to get around to it soon.

I really liked Life is Strange, but I'm not trying to sell anyone on it, just express my appreciation. I've also been gratified to see all the attention it has gotten elsewhere (e.g., GAF's 180+ page thread, plus another 80+ page spoiler thread). I've enjoyed reading the critical acclaim and hearing Square Enix talking it up.

It's not a perfect game, but it's very original. If you do check it out, just be aware that it is a slow-paced game, not "action-packed" (particularly in the beginning), and much more interested characters, tone, and story than your average game.

Same. I'm starting on the Telltale bundle now so I'll probably wait to get through that first. So it'll be a while, but I'll probably enjoy it I'm liking these kind of games a lot right now.

Just started my second playthrough. I played the first episode last night. I'm not stopping for a lot of the side content, just going right through the story.

Episode 1 was good. It was fun to see Chloe from the start again. Ashley Burch really does a good job with her.

Finished episode #2. Great episode, in a lot of ways.
Saving Kate
was really intense, even the second time through.

But so many good things in the episode, before that. Bottles, Frank, guns, nosebleeds, friendship, death.
