Mom died of Breast Cancer a year ago last Monday. I found out last Wednesday I have colon cancer. Tried to stay positive and hope for the best and now I found out today it has spread to liver so it is Stage IV. Lost right now and just when I thought I seen the worst watching my mom suffer and die now I'm on the same road.:(

Whatever you need, whenever you need to talk, whenever you need to let it out, post away. We're all here for you.

I'm sorry to read about your mom's passing. I'm very sorry to read what you're going though, Hazard. How old are you?

Hey buddy :( How did you know to go in? Sorry about your mom passing and sorry to hear about this hiccup in your life. Is surgery the first step for you? If you ever need to text or talk, 608-843-0485.

Where do you live?

That crap sucks. So sorry for everything.

Around the same age as you and lost my Mom a few years back (not cancer).

You need to talk? Message us. You close by? Maybe we can meet.

I assume you'll have to go through chemo, but see if you can also get into a clinical trial as well.

Don't get down. Mortality is a necessary evil and no man is exempt. It waits for us all, just rock out to the very end. Staying positive will keep you alive.

Oh man, I just hate to hear news like this. As has been said, keep positive and do what you can to help yourself. I'd would be more than welcome to talk with you if you need a shoulder. I wish you the very best in all that you seek during this time.

I hope it works out for you, Hazard. I really do. My mother in law has the same thing and she's just finished chemotherapy. We're waiting now to see what the next steps are.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. The way it looks chemo will be first all depends on what Oncologist recommends. I live in Ohio and will be going to the OSU James Cancer
Center. One of the best cancer centers around.

Then to OSU once they can get you in? What do you do for a living? What activities do you do? Golfing, hiking, biking, skiing, etc?
Honestly I'm not a very active person. I'm way over weight and until now drank a couple times a week 12-15 beers. I have no doubt my lifestyle lead to this and I now need to change it if I want to stand a fighting chance.

I had a colonoscopy because my bowels and stomach have been messed up and I have lost like 50 pounds in the last year or so even though my eating had not changed.

What things do you enjoy doing besides gaming?

Damn, Hazard, I just saw your post... Wow, what a terrible shock that must be. I know from my own experience (not cancer, but a life-threatening operation) that it is very hard to wrap your head around. It feels unreal.

We're all here for you, bud. Wish I could come to visit. I'm glad you've got support around you -- that makes a huge difference. Having some type of spiritual belief system helps, too. I will definitely be saying prayers for you. Know that you are loved and cared about.

I read this last night and didn't know what to say. I still don't. It brought tears to my eyes. I just hope for the best possible outcome for what you're going through. :(

Sorry to hear this Hazard. Yes at Stage III/IV you're pretty much limited to chemo, stage I/II are where surgery + chemo is done. Sorry I'm an MD so I see this stuff pretty often since I'm finishing my training across the street from MD Anderson. I hope its slow growing and you can live life as long as possible.

I know the chances and the fight ahead. I have read plenty of people living quite a few more years even at stage 4 spread to liver and I choose to focus on those right now and be positive. Thinking negative or reading the bad outcomes, stories is not what I'm about right now.
