It's worth noting that we still haven't seen the Xbox One versions of Need for Speed or NBA 2K14. Reminds me of the days of PS3/360 where they would always show the 360 versions off and the PS3 versions would be MIA up until launch (only to realize all the frame rate problems, remember Tony Hawk, Madden, etc.).

Is Need for Speed going to be any good BTW? I haven't seen this game discussed too much (probably because it is multiplatform).

Reminds me of the days devs would play up the PS3 version in pre-release PR that it was as good as the 360 games or the PS3 game was the lead platform, yet when the games release to stores, the 360 version was still better.

I'm not sure I buy for a second that any next gen console game (PS4 or X1) will best the PC counterpart, something just doesn't smell right.

Me neither. The chances of an X1 or PS4 multiplat beating out a solid PC rig is practically zero. Just like current gen, a PS3/360 version will beat out an outdated PC or possibly be competition for a medium spec PC back in 2007, but good PCs will always rule. That goes for back then and now. While Gears looked great on 360, the PC version comes out looks better, better res and 60 fps (if the rig can do it).

Just some PR drivel to get console gamers hyped..... (while the PC crowd takes everything in stride knowing their rig will have the best version as usual)

I fell for it with Crysis 2. never again!

It's always better to wait and see.

Yup. For current gen, it was so skewed to the 360 game being better, it was safe to just buy the 360 game knowing it was better most the time, a smaller portion of the time it was the same, and maybe 3% of the time it was better on PS3. No harm just getting the 360 game if you were a multiplat console gamer. Any game made by Bioware, Bethesda, and any CoD were surefire winners on 360.

For next gen, nobody knows. So many games have hardly any gameplay previews, most videos are low res from games conferences, many games are stuck in MS/Sony marketing partnerships so only their version gets shown that who knows which is better at this point. And either big game sites are playing coy, or they don't know themselves, since no sites seem to really want to compare X1 vs PS4 yet.

I agree with that, but what some of them are doing is not necessarily hyping one version. Instead, they are showing the PS4 version to the press. That's exactly what they used to do with the 360 versions last gen. You don't show off the worse version. I think actions speak louder than words.

"VideoGamer.com went hands-on with both the PC and PlayStation 4 versions earlier this week, with the latter running at a smooth 30FPS.

The Xbox One version is not yet thought to have been shown."

We will have plenty of comparisons just a month from now. I seriously doubt the more powerful, easier to develop hardware will result in worse multiplatform games this generation, but time will tell.

This is speculation about a single game, transmuted into "PS4 is getting the better multiplatforms." Huge leap. This thread would not end well. Closing.
