Day one PS Studio game on PC.
I’ll be honest, this is one game that should be everywhere, sure others may seem like obvious choices cos fandom type, but this is universal, and I’ve already forgotten, is this running on unreal (arc is known for working with it)? If so could be a ported and optimized for consoles like switch 2

Looks really good, it's crazy to me that they have so many characters on screen at once and it doesn't look as cluttered as the last MvC to me.

Arcworks is the main studio developing, XDEV supporting so second party game like Helldivers 2.
Yeah, the whole thing was Sony's idea from the start and I'm sure they put up all of the funding. I don't really care about PC getting it on day one, it's a "multiplayer game" which they've already said would be day and date on PlayStation and PC. I do hope it has a story mode but fighting games for a lot of people are all about playing against other people.

Odd, they debuted it at the start as a PS Studios game, so they must be considering it first party.

Helldivers 2 is first party, as Sony owns the Helldivers IP.

They debuted Lego as PS studios too. They do that for every game worked on by a PS studio, could mean first or second party exclusive.

Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls can be considered a second-party game in the context of its development and publishing partnerships.

🎮 What Is a Second-Party Game?

A second-party game typically refers to a title developed by an external studio (not owned by the platform holder) but published or funded by the platform holder, often as an exclusive or semi-exclusive release.

🧩 Why Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls Fits This Definition

Developer: The game is being developed by Arc System Works, an independent Japanese studio renowned for titles like Guilty Gear and Dragon Ball FighterZ.

Publisher: Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) is publishing the game, indicating a significant investment and involvement from Sony.

Platform: The game is slated for release on PlayStation 5 and PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store) in 2026, suggesting a console exclusivity to PlayStation platforms.

Collaborators: The project is a collaboration between PlayStation Studios, Arc System Works, and Marvel Games, showcasing a close partnership between Sony and the external developer.

This arrangement aligns with the typical structure of second-party games, where the platform holder (Sony) partners closely with an external developer (Arc System Works) to produce a title that is exclusive or closely tied to its platform.
