So having played X-Men Legends 1&2 and UA1 and really liked them a buddy and I looking for a co-op game tried UA2.

UA2 was a major disappointment. The worst aspect of the game is the camera, the somewhat 3/4 top down view gives a worse view of the action than in the previous games in the series. Also the camera sometimes chooses some horrific angles, like the outside wall of a building your inside of or the roof of a building your inside of. Totally leaving you to get the bag beat out of you as you cannot see what is going on inside. I also encountered sections of significant lag with minimal action onscreen.

The new fusion powers in the game were a bit of a letdown too, they were all over the place in terms of fun and usefulness. Wolverine and Nick Cage's power was hard as hell to control and didn't seem to really inflict much damage. On the other hand Iron Man and Cap'n America's fusion was pretty cool, easy to navigate and kicked some serious butt.

The plus side of the game is the graphics and sounds. The characters and environments are a step up from the previous games, although some of the characters in the cut-scenes are a bit wonky looking. The sfx are comic book decent with some good character voices, though the quips do get redundant. There is a decent roster of Marvel favorites to play and the story is pretty cool, taking place during the Marvel Civil War, which offers a choice a bit into the game of which side to choose and in turn what characters you have in your team, offering a bit of replay ability.

The game would have been infinitely more fun had the camera not been such a PITA and laggy online. I am a pretty big comic book fan and I usually jump at the chance to beat the bag outta the rogues gallery of a said universe, but UA2 to me was a step back from its predecessors.

Ha. It is funny you started this thread. I was just looking at this game on my shelf just the other day. I really liked playing MUA 1 and the Legends games but MUA 2 I stopped playing. I just wasn't feeling it at the time. I stopped but I do plan on going back and playing it.

MUA was a lot of fun to play in my opinion. I loved it. I really hope Marvel goes back to this series and brings back the aspects of the game we both liked about the series. One of my favorite "dungeon crawlers" for sure!

Same here UA1 is one of my favorites too, it's like they took everything fun from UA1 out for UA2. I think it had a bunch to do with Vicarious Visions developing UA2, as Raven software developed X-Men Legends 1&2 and UA1. Hopefully if they ever decide to make UA3 Raven will head it up.

Hey Daddy,

I hate to tell you this but Raven Software is no more. It's said because they have made some great games but I think they were shuttered during the economic downturn. I was so sad to see it happen. R.I.P. Raven

My hope is the legacy will live on.

That sucks, I didn't know that. Yeah they made some great games is right, I remember playing Heretic and Hexen back in the day.

MUA 2 was a huge letdown, I agree. On the xbox 360, it was bad....on the PSP is was unplayable.
