Collateral - 10/10

Had it on in the background while I was working on my taxes. One of my all time favorites, from one of my favorite directors. I don't watch movies that often, so maybe that is why I feel this way, but it just seems like there aren't movies in this style that often. A lot of it is probably on Mann as I love the look and feel of his movies, but so many movies these days just feel flat compared to something like Collateral.
“Yo, homie.”

"Don't get me cornered. You don't have the trunk space."

Great movie.

I feel like Doug Liman who did the original Bourne Identity comes close.

Or John Frankenheimer's Ronin.

There is something about Mann films when it comes to gun play though. I swear it's in the audio especially in HEAT.

That was one of my favorite films from the 2000’s. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen it. I think they added it to Netflix recently.

Collateral and Heat are still two of my absolute favorite movies. There's just something about Michael Mann that just is on another level with movies. The music, sound and action is just a step above most anything else. As much as I normally hate Cruise, he was absolutely amazing in this.

Heat is a definite classic. I know it wasn't as well reviewed, but Miami Vice was great as well. Another movie that showcases his action/gun scenes.

I've got to re-watch the Miami Vice movie. I remember seeing it and really hating it, even though I'm such a Mann fan.

I do recommend the original series. It holds up surprisingly well (aside from the fashion). :)

I remember liking the Miami Vice film. Not sure what I would think now I haven’t seen it in a very long time.

I don’t get some of the hate Heat gets. Love the film. I bought the Directors Definitive Edition on Blu Ray last year. It is still a great movie and looks like it was filmed yesterday.

So I re-watched Miami Vice (it is on Netflix for anyone wondering). There just seems to be something off about it. Like the sound isn't quite right or something? It is an ok movie but seems to lack something from the other movies. I guess every one can't be a masterpiece though, right? I think too no matter how much I try and like Colin Ferrel it just isn't happening. I suppose trying to compare to Deniro and Pachino isn't exactly fair either :)

I want to re-watch Heat but the minute I start I won't be able to turn it off.
