Cant watch the vid atm...should this and the other thread be merged or as is? I’m ok with it being separated, as the MCC variants are.

It is impressive that a lot of those look like 3d objects. FS has had photoreal stuff for a long time, but it was always a 2d picture, so as you got closer it didn't look good.

"And yes, that realism extends to weather events like real-world hurricanes.

“I was on the phone with [Asobo Studios] the other day,” said Jorg Neumann, head of Microsoft Flight Simulator. “And it’s actually a bittersweet story. [...] They said, ‘Jorg, here’s what we just did; We flew through Dorian in runtime.’ It was accurately there and it was moving up the east coast."

O M G !

A 33 minute video of Frooglsim, a well known flight sim YouTuber who also travelled up to Seattle to see the game. Suffice to say he was blown away.
There were times in this video where I actually thought I was watching real life footage 14.40 onwards.

That's really impressive. I wonder how (if) they've solved the texture popping issues of the past. In old games you could easily fly fast enough to outpace the computer's ability to process the graphics, so you'd get terrible popping and low rez textures (not to mention stutters). I notice every shot they show is in a really slow plane.

It is still really impressive, especially if they can make remote parts of the world more accurate. They've always been able to get populated areas in North America and Europe pretty accurate, since so much data was available, but some tiny remote island was always a problem.

I also wonder what they are doing for planes and avionics.

A little more detail here (if you want to skip ahead about 7-8 minutes a lot of that is the same stuff about the scenery rendering we've already heard)

What's the reslease date?

Their website just says available 2020. However many tech sites mentioned that the Win 10 version would come first and Xbox later.

People have been playing an alpha build, so next year could be realistic.

How is this game suddenly the best looking game ever?

Most life like of the generation? But it does seem like you’ll be flying alone, guess they don’t have to worry about many other things hogging resources like AI or um AI???
