They confirmed that plugging in a joystick after starting the game is causing crashes (like if you turn on an Xbox controller to use as the drone cam).

I'm still getting crashes now though, and one game I had random stutters.

Got another bug on a flight where the autopilot just went nuts and I couldn't control the plane at all. I turn it off and still can barely hand fly the thing.

Now that I'm actually trying longer flights I'm noticing more issues. Still an amazing game overall. Hopefully patches can fix it.

Checked it out this morning for a bit. Did half the training then took a flight from my small hometown to where my parents live now. I wasn't sure how it would run as for the GPU they ask for an RX 570 4GB and I'm on an RX 480 8GB, but it recommended very high I think and game runs just fine at that. Might crank it up to max and see how it works but otherwise I'm fine with where it is. Just using controller but I do have a hotas from Elite Dangerous I might drag out at some point.

Every controller feels a little twitchy right now, hopefully something they can patch out . I've got my sensitivities way down and things still feel too fast. A 172 shouldn't feel like a fighter plane. They need to tone that down a ton.

Having some fun flights in the SR22. The Da62 feels more buggy, that's the plane I had all the issues with.

The air traffic control is not so good right now. Be ready to turn it off. It loves to force me to high altitudes or making huge detours to get to a landing approach. It is neat that it uses real ones, but it shouldn't divert my little single engine plane 30 miles around the airport.

I want to download some VFR charts and try to navigate using only the terrain with no GPS. The terrain seems accurate enough to do it easily.

Is there a way to adjust throttle without using the mouse?

B button. Oh, well, if you have the controller plugged in.

Incidentally, while the overhead neighborhood views look awesome, if you're not in a photorealistic city, don't expect street level to look like anything other than s***. Which, admittedly, is not what the game is about and it's sweet as hell, but seeing my old house look like a rock with a triangle for a tree was not super. But from about 1000 get, especially at night, it's beautiful (well, as beautiful as heretucky can be).

I'm hoping being maps has a 3d version of my town like Google maps does

Yeah...the ground can look like absolute crap. Thankfully it will improve as the game matures.

There's apparently a big shortage on joystick components because of the pandemic too. It is really hard to find anything right now. Thrustmaster keeps sending me ads for their new Airbus stick, but it is sold out everywhere and no word on it being back in stock.

Good luck finding anything on Amazon right now. It is all 3rd party sellers with big markups right now.

Anyone else having problems with the game crashing? I tried to play yesterday and it just crashed over and over before loading the airport. This is why I hate PC gaming. :txbmad:

One thing, don't plug in or turn on any josticks/controllers after the sim starts up. Make sure anything is plugged in and powered on (say if you have an Xbox controller). Turning on your Xbox controller when the sim is on is going to crash.

There's a patch coming Thursday that we don't have details on yet but hopefully they resolve some of these issues.

I have my controller plugged into it, but my keyboard is wireless. I wonder if it's sleeping then turning on...

Heck yes. My 3 year old I7 1080 can run it on high (just one below the highest, ultra). It doesn't take a monster to run this game. Series X should blow my rig out of the water.

You've never flew over NYC have you?

I didn't have a massive FPS hit there, but I didn't do a lot of flying there. I do turn off AI traffic there, as that always kills FPS in that area (always has).
