Official Thread Middle-earth: Shadow of War

I'm close to beating the game, but I think I'm going to stop so I can do it in 4k. I have four locations beaten. The level of the last one is nearly 300 level lol.

This game looks like fun. I haven't bought it yet though. After watching several gameplay videos of the first game it started to seem kind of repetitive, and kind of turned me off. Like the whole game is based on one simple (though really cool) game mechanic.

What? Level 300? Is that the end game? Cos I’m in the end game and the highest I’ve since so far is 55

All games are basically repetition of some sort. This does not get boring fast let me tell you. The diversity of the orks is just incredible.

It is simple, and repetitive, but Orcs are diverse and have a lot of variety to them which keeps it fresh.

Gorgrath. It’s level 258. I actually don’t know how far I am now. Is there three acts? I think I’m only on act two? I just started Gorgrath which I thought was just one castle. It’s not.

Ah right. The fortress defense level! I thought you meant the Orc level. I was getting worried there for a second cos I’m struggling to get to level 50.

I ended up beating one of the fortresses last night because I was trying to figure out how far in I am. I still have no clue. lol

Also, what was this talk about microtransactions? I haven't spent a single cent other than buying the regular version of the game? I have a bunch of great weapons and gear, a plethora of gems, and I'm pretty deep in the game. Drama for nothing?

Yep. An actual shocking amount of drama and noise considering it’s barely in the game at all. I think it was the flavor of the week complaint and so Shadow of War got hit with it.

People complaining like little girls about micro transactions is getting annoying. So much doom and gloom even though you can still enjoy the games.

Anyway I’m just going to skip the first game and maybe get this one for Christmas. I’ll go back to the original eventually.

Since the LOTR movies I’ve become a big LOTR fan. I still don’t understand why we haven’t gotten a huge RPG set in Middle Earth. Would be awesome!

Yup same with Forza 7. Never a prompt or notification to get or use loot boxes. I haven't bought one and the game plays like before.

Amazing how people create s*** storms.

Up to the final story mission of the first game now. I'll wait a month or so before starting this.

Did anybody finish this? I’m kinda soured on the game from just reading about the terrible and grindy final act.

I’m finished it. I didn’t complete all the end game stuff but finished all the missions / acts. Too be honest, a whole load of crap was written about this game. I didn’t find it grindy at all but in the end game there is a certain amount of repetition in order to gain higher level orks. But that’s end game, in a single player game, so big deal.

That’s good to hear! Yeah I’m not too far yet, but I was reading about all these complicated strategies people were coming up with to get enough high level orcs to complete the game and I was like that sounds terrrrible lol.

I see those complaining about those complaining about lootboxes (whew) and man, it was so simple back in october wasnt it

Good seeing that this game isn't nearly as greedy as other series have recently gotten. The consensus always seems to be that 90% of the game is fine, then the difficulty ramps up in the end game segment, necessitating "grind." Some people smell blood and go into a frenzy I guess. Got it on sale (INSTEAD OF BATTLEFRONT :txbmad:) and I am so very eager to get into a new game again.

Didn’t pay a single cent. On the final chapter.

Excited to jump into this - probably early 2018.

Going to start this next week and just noticed the 22GB 4k cinematic download.
