Gotten more into Dragon's Dogma, started as a mage and now I'm playing as a sorcerer, the game is really good overall but I'd love to see something with more of a story mode in a sequel, this mostly feels like just doing a lot of side quests and random encounters. Even with the weak effort Capcom put into this remaster the monsters still look really good. I'd love to see this with a proper upgrade to the character models, landscapes and structures.

Started playing Yooka-Laylee recently and it's not bad. Looks great and plot is interesting enough, but camera and controls can hinder once in a while. Great throwback to old school 3D platformers for sure.

Finished Indivisible (PC). Great action rpg with fighting game mechanics, which is not surprise given the developer's background. Art direction was right up my alley with bright beautiful colors and a story that kept me entertained. Only complaint was there was a little too much backtracking for my liking but other than that all good. Can't wait to see what comes next from Lab Zero Games.

Finished Yooka-Laylee. Not a bad game but some of the controls and camera can he annoying. New game from them is 2.5D which I enjoy more for platformers so I'll definitely check it out at some point.

Just started playing the indie game Creature in the Well. It's a top down, hack n slash with pinball mechanics. Really interesting and unique.

Finished The Outer Worlds (PC). This game is right up my alley. Short(ish), sweet and to the point. Obsidian did a good job with their world building. I would have finished this a week ago, but a companion bug prevented me from going any further until the patch dropped on Monday. The ending, or at least my ending lends itself well for a sequel or 2. Given how well received the game has been, MS and Obsidian would be foolish not to franchise the game.

A few wishes for the next game:
1.Options to romance for companions.
2. More customization for your ship
3. More worlds to explore

Overall though I had a great time with the game and wish them success with their next game.

Playing through Nier Automata on XB1. 6 hours in I'm not really all that impressed. The game got glowing reviews and critical praise but its just not clicking with me.

Finished Blacksad: Under the Skin (PC). It's one of the longer adventure ( like Telltale) that I've ever played. The story takes various twists and turns and all the pieces don't come together until nearly the end. I also like how that based on your decisions ALOT of characters live, die or are effected in some way. Loved the music. I didn't like the multitude of glitches and bugs, including audio out of sync and subtitles occasionally not working. Also the cut scenes are not skip-able.

Overall I enjoyed the game and would welcome a sequel.

Is that the RPG you play through multiple times? I’ve hard once you start your 2nd on you see how good it is.

I'm trying to stick with it but with so many good games in my backlog and upcoming, its hard to find a reason to continue.

I'm a huge PlatinumGames fan but yea this game was a let down for me. I did end up beating it but it just didn't click for me. That said, I have had the urge to play it again so we'll see.

Beat The Outer Worlds a couple nights ago. Big fan of Obsidian so probably biased, but really enjoyed it. Took what I loved about New Vegas, updated it, and threw it in space.

Started God of War 3 last night. Been really slow on this series, with the first one played back in 2013 I think, and then the second in 2017. I've had the urge to check out the new one lately so figured I should get the original series done first.

Nice. I God of War 3 was my first and only God of War until this new one came out. I really enjoyed it. We have God of War for PSP, but I haven't played it yet.

I think I have the PSP ones as well through whatever super bundle I have, but I have no interest in playing them. I think they were prequels or something anyways.

Started playing Just Cause 4 and it runs a lot better than 3 did, sadly it has some of the worst textures and pop in I've seen in an open world game this gen. It's fun though, hopefully they'll get another shot next gen and they'll be able to make a game that is not only fun but looks good too.

Beat God of War 3 over the weekend and honestly thought it was the weakest of the original trilogy. The story was fine but the gameplay just felt different to me and not consistent. I played GoW 1 back in 2013 I think and then 2 in 2017, so maybe it had just been a while, but the combat didn't feel as fluid/fun as before. Or maybe I'm just more used to something like Bayonetta or Devil May Cry. By no means a bad game but definitely a disappointment.

Next up while I have EA Access, I at least plan on running through the story on Batltefront 2. Might also do Dante's Inferno as I remember playing the demo for that back in the day and really liking it.

Been playing Postal 2 and Ty the Tasmanian Tiger for the most part in December. Both games are pretty fun. Ty is a fun 3D platformer with open levels and a charming world/presentation. Postal 2 is just classic. Haven't played it in years, so I got a Postal bundle off of Steam in November, which includes the Postal movie, and I find it still pretty fun to play. The only downside of it all is that it can take a good hot minute to get from Point A and B. Still, it's a classic game with a openish world that still gets updated to this day (have yet to play Paradise Lost) or try any of the mods on Steam, but it does produce some funny random moments like this:

Over this past weekend I played through the campaign of Battlefront 2. Wasn't too bad to be honest. Today I started Dante's Inferno. Figured while I still had my EA Access sub I would play through it although I had just done God of War 3. They are very similar games so it's obvious where they got the inspiration for it.

Dante's Inferno is definitely what I like to call a "high quality clone." One of those gems in a sea of games that tried to cash in on another franchises style of gameplay. Lots of those clones can often be rushed and plain unfinished at times. I remember quite a few games tried to reboot under the God of War style, like Conan the Barbarian.

You should check out the animated movie too. It's a fun little flick.

Finished Darksiders Genesis (PC). It was a fun little distraction set in the Darksiders world. It will placate me until Darksiders 4, but I want DS4 to be a return to form, a la DS 1 or 2. Genesis plays like a dungeon crawler, read: Diablo but with out the loot drops. Has co-op which was nice and fleshes out some of the darksider story some. The map could be better fleshed out and the difficulty spikes in places. Overall though it wasn't terrible but I'm glad to move on.

Finally finished My Friend Pedro. I really liked it, although it got a little bit tedious towards the end.

Finished Hand of Fate 2 ( PC) . I purchased this game forever ago and just now finished it. I had stopped because it had a level that was beyond difficult. I finally got around it. The difficulty defiantly spike late in the game. Overall I had a good time with it and I'm sorry the dev went out of business. The game is a good mix of action, tactical and dungeon crawling.

Gave up on Nier automatica ( XB1) and RDR2 (XB1). Both are not nearly as fun as I thought they would be. I might pick them up again sometime down the line.
Picked up My Time in Portia (PC) . Its Stardew Valley crossed with Harvest Moon. A nice palet cleaner from all the grim dark stuff I had been playing.

I'm also playing The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III (PS4). For my money this is the best JRPG series going with Persona being a close second.

I’m going to have to look into Legend of Heroes. Persona 5 is a generation defining game for me. I’m a great fan of anime inspired storytelling and flashy turn-based combat but have little experience with JRPG. P5 really sunk its claws into me and I spent well over 100 hours in that awesome game. Sadly, its been my only JRPG since then because I have no clue how to pick another JRPG to play that is at least similar to P5.

As a stand alone game P5 might be better than any one cold steel game. P5 put everything together in one well produced, great sounding package. Cold steel is a slow burning series who's story arc covers 4 games. CS is also a bit grindy. But for stories over mutliple games, it solid. I'd take Cold Steel over Final Fantasy any day of the week.
As for another jrpg that plays similar to Persona. Let me think on that.

I played My Time Time In Portia on GamePass back over the summer. It was a nice, relaxing, addicting game I liked it. Don’t remember why I quit playing.

Nier is japoonese at it's core and therefore has the same archaic faults most games from those developers have.
Still, I'd rate it very high, prob in the high 8s or even 9 and that's a lot coming from someone who usually thinks most japoon made games get way to much praise.

It's weird, I love RDR2 for the incredible immersion and attention to detail, but I don't think I'd call it a fun game. I honestly dont think that's the point. It's almost like a painting is enjoyable but not because it's a like a roller coaster...if that makes any sense

Think I'm getting close to the end of Dante's Inferno and I'm glad for it. I don't know if it's just the age of the game, the mechanics, or the fact I played God of War 3 recently, but I'm really not feeling this game. The story is fine, the levels decent, etc., but I just want it to be over at this point. I ended up putting it on easy difficulty about half way through because the enemies even on normal just felt like sponges, even the basic enemies.

Days Gone…..Revisited.

I have to say when I first picked this game up I really didn’t like it. I felt it was very slow, boring and tedious. I still think its slow but I also believe that’s by design. Perhaps I wasn’t in the right frame of mind for this game or I stopped playing when things were about to get good. I’m really enjoying it since I picked up where I left off over the last few days.

The shooting mechanics are still sh!t. But just one upgrade point to improve handling has made a big difference. Also, got a new assault rifle and crossbow that really make a difference and I just crafted my first hardcore melee weapon which is a saw blade tied to a bat that just destroys. I actually like having to tend to the motorcycle, its way cooler than any horse I’ve had in a game. And I’ve never run out of fuel but that’s always on my mind so I’m in constant lookout for fuel and top off every chance I get. I don’t like how different camp missions don’t appear until certain story points are hit but it’s a small thing to move the story along and have more missions open up.

I think I was a bit harsh when I first got this game probably because I felt burned by the purchase. But I’m having fun now so it all worked out. Since getting back into this game I looked at vids for tips to help me along. I came across a video from a gamer who spoke with the developers at a game conference and asked about Bend Studios making another Syphon Filter. The studio rep confirmed that they pitched a game in the series to Sony but where denied funding for such a project. I hope Sony changes their mind at some point.
