Mini-Review/Backlog Destruction Thread

Finished First Light yesterday, felt like an unofficial game about the Flash. I had a blast, the light powers are so fun and the story was good enough to keep things interesting

Until Dawn was the next victim in my backlog murder spree. Only 2 people survived, I think my chances of making out of a horror movie are pretty low lol. Fun game overall, maybe a bit too boring at times though as it doesn’t seem like something I’m going to replay soon

Great tactical stealth game that reminds me of the old PC game, Commandos. I'm looking forward to playing Desperados 3 when it goes on sale or hits gamepass.

Deliver Us the Moon - FANTASTIC
Great linear, story-driven game. Short so it's not overdrawn. What an amazing story that is reminiscent of Interstellar.

Observation - MIXED FEELINGS

Cosmic horror game with lots of puzzles. Some parts of the game are a literal maze in the dark, which became quite annoying. Story was intriguing but fell flat in the end.

I just got plague tales for steam at 66% discount...excited to play then hit with 1.5 days estimated install time, which means 2 days+ IRL......Sigh.

Dang!!! Well if its any consolation it’s an amazing game, one of my favorites this generation

I kept getting disk write error. Tied everything but can't resolved. Sigh.
Finally got it resolved, I think, at least the error is not every 2-5 sec.
I think its some adware. After running adware & versus scan & fixing the issues. Hopefully, I get it done by tonight & can start gaming on Monday. I am taking a break from my game project as I am working every day for 2.5 months & often over 12-13 hours a day. When I am not working, I did sport or hiking end up mentally & physically exhausted.

Need a short break or I get burned out.

I was wanted to try Ghost of Tsushima. Heard may good things about the game.

Ghosts is ok. I said in the Ghost thread that its one of the few games I feel is earning its average metacritic rating. At full retail price, right now I feel like I should have waited on this one to drop in price. I'll see if I feel different as I go through the game but as of right now it doesn't have that addictive factor to keep me playing. Case in point, I had time to play it today but instead I played CrossCode off gamepass. In my mind it says volume to me that I'd rather play that than a brand new Sony exclusive that I paid full retail price for. This could end up being my Days Gone.

I will look out later. Right now I am playing a plague tale. Holy cow, the graphics are out of the world. I never saw a medieval setting delivering with such accuracy & breathtaking. European developers are just better at visualising a game based in Europe. :tounge:

anyway, I shared some amazing screenie at the PC screenshot gallery if you guys want to check out.

Finished Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout (PC). Standard JRPG fare. Surprised its getting a sequel.

Finished Shantae and the Seven Sirens (PC) . Fun platformer/metroidvania game. 5th game in the Shantae series. I think I've played 3 of the games in the series now. Only took about 7 hours to beat. It was a nice time waster when I couldn't find anything else to play or didn't want to play anything heavy.

Manage to reach chapter xiii for A plague tale. Taking things slow. Enjoyable but that are a few tense moments.

Manage to reach Chapter XVI for A PlagueTale. The game turn too action focus in the later chapter, & less fun IMO. Combat is clunky. I think puzzle focus games should focus more on overcoming challenges via an understanding of how to solve a challenge than pinpoint execution (ala action game).

I also started Remnant: From the Ashes, free game on EPic store this week. It's fun when playing with a friend, though the connection is pretty bad. Keep getting disconnected & "teleport". The game can be pretty "thrown controller at screen" tough especially playing solo due to sparsity of the checkpoints, & how they throw enemies and mini-boss between checkpoints.

RDR 2 - unpopular opinion but this game is a beautiful slog. Graphics are just amazing but everything else I just find to be either tedious or disappointing. I honestly think the first game was much better

I still need to go back and finish it, but only when I'm in the mood for something relaxing and immersive, the moment to moment gameplay didn't do it for me.

I'm making my way through God of War still, the game continually astounds me at each turn, this is truly a special game and probably my game of the generation so far, I'm not sure how far through I am as it continues to open up more and more as I progress, but I just got the chaos blades and I was literally cheering as I got them haha.

Finally got a fully free weekend and my buddy is letting me borrow his Playstation 4 to play The Last of Us 2. Just got past the first big spoiler (that I already knew about sadly) and am going to marathon it this weekend. Really excited.

In other news, I really really like Destiny 2. Started hitting the grindy parts of it, but playing it with friends is still really fun and doesn't feel like a chore. Doing it by yourself though does lol.

Nice, I'm excited to jump into destiny 2 with my squad when it hits gamespass next month. I enjoyed the first one even after a bit of grinding but it definitely got old.

When D2 hits GamePass I’ll give it a go and once it becomes a grind I’ll quit playing. I’m sure will have my hours of enjoyment out of it by then.

I have been playing Remnant in small doses when my friend is online. It's a nice game to play coop. The game is hard for sure, but it doesn't try to be over complicated with godzillion stuff to do, or 2o different mechanics & powerup, but have enough depth & progression.

Not a fan of the low checkpoint count & save, & enemy respawns after saving thingy. Never love these.

I played Shadow Tactics back when it released and agree very good game. I remember playing a demo of one of the old Commandos games but have never fully played a game of that genre.

Been lugging along in Assassin's Creed Origins and nearing the end. Think I only have 3-4 main missions left and have done pretty much all side-quests and collectibles so far and nearing 80 hours in it. Haven't played an AC game since Brotherhood because although I loved the first two games, it just became too much with the yearly releases. A long ass break from the series definitely helped as I'm loving the game. Ancient Egypt is one of my favorite historical time periods and while it will be a while before I get to it, I am looking forward to Odyssey as well.

You guys do realize its free to play right? Get your dudes leveled up for when the expansions hit next month. The game is crazy different than when it launched from what I hear. There's so much content it's insane.

I'm still a noob, but my power level is like 1030 or something now.

I've been playing it quite a bit but took a break the last week or two on the current season. Since the new DLC is delayed I'll have plenty of time to finish up the season stuff. I do still have Foresaken and Shadowkeep DLC to finish though...

I'm giving up on Ghost of Tsushima for the time being. Too much busy work. Felt like a chore playing it. Might revisit it on the PS5.

New Hitman (released this year) will be free on the Epic store next week. I probably try it, since well, it's free.

Been playing Remnant & about 3/4 done with the campaign, playing mostly co-op. Game is tough even in normal (It's called dark soul with guns for a reason) , but manageable with a buddy. Teamwork, so enemies have someone else to shoot at. 😁

Finished Battletoads (PC/XB1). It wasn't a bad game. And it played better than I thought it would. With that said though, it felt like a game that didn't know what it wanted to be. A Brawler, platformer, puzzle game, shooter? Not really doing any one of those genres well but adequately enough I guess. The humor is hit or miss. I played with my wife and she felt that it was a 90's Saturday morning cartoon with harsher language.

It was a good time waster and I would play a sequel, but I have no desire to replay the game.

Finished up God of War...

Wow, what can I say that hasn't already been said. Probably the best game I've ever played, everything about it was near perfect for me, I loved the story, combat, visuals, progression. Everything was there to make something truly special, the game even made me laugh out loud more then any other game due to Kratos and artreus disagreeing and the supporting characters were awesome too.

My only complaints would be from fighting the same bad guys too much, but even they had a bit of variety from one another to keep it interesting. (Not to mention the noisy fan)!

I cannot wait for the next installment, I'm actually gutted, i haven't played a game like this in a long time I was this invested in. The final 30 minutes was some of the best in any game ever.

I don't even know what to play now, horizons not grabbing me like I thought it would, I will probably give GOT a try since it looks like it's up my alley, also looking at heavy rain and beyond two souls as well.

Beat Renment on Hard mode with an IRL buddy. We enjoy it so much, we are getting another co-op game Warhammer Vermintide 2 to play.
Hopefully, I can finish download (M700kb/s) by Friday so we can paly in the weekend. (started Wednesday night)

Today is also the last day of my Holiday. It was a long-deserved rest.

Gonna start work tomorrow & my game development next Monday.
