Mini-Review/Backlog Destruction Thread

I started playing Diablo 3 again on the XSX. I already had a Barb max level, I played through the campaign again and now have a Crusader max level. So I bought the Necromancer DLC pack and I’m going to start that class in adventure mode. This game just never gets old watching that loot drop and see that legendary drop with the light shooting to the sky lol. I listen to music or podcasts on the XB Spotify app while I play.

About 30 hours in and halfway through the main story of Final Fantasy 15. Prior to this 13 was the only one I beat and besides that had only played a bit of 7 and 8. I'm enjoying the game although sometimes I do wish it had the old school turn-based style.

Finally beat Narita Boy. Such incredible art in this game. The bosses can be tough, but what helped me was stepping away from the game for a few days and then coming back to it with a fresh pair of eyes.

Think I'm on second to last chapter and up until now the game has been decent, but the ending has gone to s*** honestly.

Just wanted to point out, next season of Diablo 3 will be dope. They added Etheral OOT items for anticipation of D2 resurrected.

Hitman 2016. Why didn't anyone tell me this game was this good. Totally excuses Absolution. Feels like Blood money 2.0
I played it as it was elfter game from epic store. Great game. Finished a while ago. Very chill also. You can take your time if you ignore the end of mission scores.
It’s more of a disguise game than stealth which I wasn’t expecting.

I just started Dark Souls 3 for the first time. Ive really only played Bloodborne when it comes to From Software and its one of my all time favorites.

I tried playing the original Dark souls Remastered but it just seemed like it didnt age well to me. Decided to catch up on the lore and jumped straight into 3. I am loving it so far.

Finished Mass Effect 1 from the Mass Effect Legendary Edition (PC) . While ME2 and 3 improved the combat I still feel ME 1 told the best consistent story of the 3 games.

Finished Scarlett Nexus ( XBSX ) . It was a surprisingly good little time waster. The game's best points are its combat and art style. Combat plays out viciously with alot of different option for tackling enemies. Art style is anime. In fact, you could call it "anime" the game.

The worst points are the some of the plot. It does fall into the similar anime tropes of characters and plot. Also, there is a bit of repetition near the end and a difficulty spike.

Overall the game's good points outshine the bad parts and make for an enjoyable experience. The story leaves room for a potential sequel as well so if its sells well enough, I'd expect Bandai to greenlight one.

Welp, just ordered 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, Sakura Wars, Judgment and Yakuza Like A Dragon physical copies for $27.84 USD each so going to go on a Japanese games run this month going into next month. Going to try to finish them all before Kena releases.

Edit: Fiancee just bought me Dragon Ball Kakarot as well since it's on sale in PS store. So one more to the backlog!

Started playing Spyro Reignited Trilogy. I assume this is the OG game with new polish? If so I don't remember anything from the original lol. Anyways it's a fun little platformer for time wasting but dear god, after playing only 60fps games for the last several months is this an eyesore at 30.

Finished Last Stop on XSX. If you like Telltale like game, I highly recommend this game. It tells the story of 3 seemingly unconnected individuals dealing with the supernatural. Pretty good voice acting and music. Story is well told as well. That last chapter is a doozy. It made by the same company that did the game Virginia. For stuff like this I LOVE gamepass. Last Stop is available on both xbox gamepass and pc gamepass. With my current backlog I normally would have overlooked a title like this but with gamepass, I said why not. Glad I did.

I don' play much new games these days. Maybe 30-40mins on gears 4 on gampass a week.

I mostly just play Fortnite when my friend is online, more about socialising. Time I used to gamer I spend on my latest hobbies like RC car & 3D print projects.

I also crank up my sport/excerise since May & it can get very tiring for gaming after sports/excerise..

Finished these from the titles I bought 2 weeks ago. Japanese developers really know how to pull at your heart's strings in some moments perfectly captured with the camera angles they used.

13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim - 9/10 What a hidden gem. Fantastic story telling and beautiful 2D art brought to life. Very narrative driven and the battle minigames are fun.

Sakura Wars - 7/10 very over the top action role playing visual novel/anime sprinkled with some battle elements.

Yakuza Like a Dragon - 8.5/10 my very first Yakuza and definitely won't be my last. The story is surprisingly very good with its twists and turns, like a Japanese triads movie being played out by you, the gamer. Turn-based battle was fun and kind of brought me back to the old JRPG's feels.

Next up, Judgment before I pick up my Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut.

Finished Mass Effect 2 on the Mass Effect Legendary Edition (PC ). ME 2 still has for my money the arguably best DLC in the series with Lair of the Shadow broker. I still think the combat and overall story was better in ME 1 but the characters and loyalty missions were superb in ME 2. Onward to the finale.

Finally finished Spiderman Miles Morales (PS5) after being sidetracked forever. It was a very fun game and I would love to see a sequel. The game itself sets up the Peter Parker Spiderman game up quite well for its sequel.

:banana::banana:1 full week, zero game played !

I actually got to play a lot over the past week, between simming through My Team mode in F1 2021 (all I have to actually drive is Qualifying and after I won the driver/constructor titles in year 3, I switched to one-shot), plus dumping a lot of time into Hades and just started Twelve Minutes the other night. And Psychonauts 2 is out now? Crazy.

Been playing AC Unity and Hades mostly. Hades is a game of the year possibility and AC Unity looks and plays amazing even by current standards.

Outer Worlds and Hades on Xbox, mainly. Demons Souls on PS5. Not much else. Kind of a lull until October.

Turned out Psychonauts 2 is available on my game pass on PC (non gold). Installing now.

Finished ME3 from the Legendary Edition (PC) thus completing the trilogy. The ending in conjunction with the citadel dlc, has grown on me tremendously. To be frank, the entire journey of Mass Effect was great. There is NOTHING like Mass Effect in gaming. And despite Bioware's more recent stumbles, I will always look fondly on the Mass Effect series.

Despite finishing the original games in 2007, 2010 and 2012 respectively and knowing how it ends, I still found myself smiling at the banter between the crew and just enjoying the ride with the remaster. Still a bit salty all these years later that my Shepard and Liara never had their blue babies 😭

Again, there is nothing like Mass Effect and I PRAY that ME4 is more in line with 1-3 versus Andromeda.

My non-gaming period extended to 2 weeks.

I wanted to play Physconanuts in weekend., end up fixing some stuff & shopping for more stuff. Weekdays were spend working on my 3D print project.

The interesting thing is, the longer i am NOT palying game, the less I have the urge to play game.

Psychonauts 2 5/5

Really enjoyed that and it's overtaken Hitman 3 as my GOTY.

Well written and did a really good job on its subject that was able to be both sensitive and funny.
Controlled great and I liked the art style and the music is great.
Great voice acting as well.
It's one of those games I've enjoyed enough to want to 100%
