Mini-Review/Backlog Destruction Thread

Finished playing Arkham Knight today. One of the longest games I've played in a while, but I enjoyed it and it's very satisfying to just be the powerhouse that is Batman in this game. I actually liked where they went with the story too... the last 10 mins or so was very interesting. Still a lot more I could do with the game if I wanted to keep going, but I think it's time for something new now.

Next up is Resident Evil 3 Remake.

In the middle of Guardians of the Galaxy and there's a scene that made me laugh more than I have playing a game in forever.
Just completed the game. Some fantastic writing, voice-acting, animation, a fun story (with some very touching moments), and a great soundtrack make this game quite memorable. A few levels were a bit overly long, but overall a great experience.

The combat belongs to a much, much worse game.
The rest of the game is amazing, prob top 5 story related gaming experience of last year for me.

Yeah the story is fantastic. I almost put it up at the level of Witcher 3. Not quite The Last of Us though.

Just finished playing Resident Evil 3 Remake (never played the original). Compared to RE2Make, it's definitely quite a bit shorter and areas feel maybe a little more rushed, but overall I enjoyed it a lot. Beat it on standard and then grinded a bit to unlock the inifinte rocket launcher in case I ever want to come back and do higher difficulty runs.

Next up though is Costume Quest.

I tried high on life, & got motion sickness (a terrible headache & felt like puking). Turned it off & went to bed after 20mins of playtime.

I never have issue with FPS like this for a long time.

Edit.
Apparently its is to do with FOV, or lack off.

I had a little motion sickness with it in one of my sittings. Not bad but enough to take a break. But it didn’t happen again.

Halo has done that to me in the past but usually goes away.

Did you play on console on PC. I heard its worse on PC as you sit closer to the screen.

Did you turn off motion blur too? I found that too much.
I tried turned motion blurr on, turn off, Vsync, on/off, lower resolution, nothing works.
I heard there are 3rd party solutions to change FOV, but F it. The bad experience already turn the game off for me.

I find low FOV makes me feel weird too. I need like at least 90. I play usually on 100-110 on PC 😆

Costume Quest is such a good little game. Not exactly challenging or super deep, but just all around fun. Excited to play #2 in the near future.

Next though I'm on to my final stop in my Bioshock playthrough with Bioshock Infinite. I played Infinite awhile ago when it came out but I'll also be playing Burial at Sea 1 and 2 for the first time.

I get motion sick very easily from games that use head-bobbing and motion blur (mostly fps). I started to feel like s*** only 5 minutes in before I realized that I hadn't turned off motion blur in settings. After that, no problem at all. Played on Galaxy Fold 4 through xbox cloud with controller.

Resident Evil 2 Remake.
Looks nice and has some cool bits but also a reminder of how dumb RE puzzles could be. Don't think I can be bothered to play either characters 2nd game mode unless it's got some big changes?

3/5

Resident Evil 3 Remake
Again looks nice but pretty dull. The Nemesis stuff gets tedious pretty quickly.

2/5

Ghost of Tsushima - 6/10.

Artistically beautiful. Combat feels good for the most part. Stances seem pointless as you can beat any type of enemy with any stance. Story is shallow and forgettable.

Spider-Man Miles Morals - 4/10.

Annoying characters. Unfulfilling combat that is boring and repetitive. Not too mention I'm a super hero but a fatman can kill me in 2 or 3 punches. Has some cool set pieces.

Finished Bioshock Infinite and both Burial at Sea DLCs. Such a great series, glad I can finally say I've experienced every piece of it.

Next up I'm playing Max the Curse of Brotherhood.

Why is it great?

Very polished title. Didn't experience any technical issues which is impressive for a game that's biggest gimmick is everything in tune with the music.

Nice story (probably take about 12 or so hours to complete on normal), good characters, cool boss battles and looks fantastic.
Controls are solid and a great mix of platforming and combat which is more detailed than might seem at the start.
Minor issue could be the lack of sprint but I got over it.

I had 1 bug. I hit a barrel and the environment disappeared and I was left in a never ending fall.

Thankfully it has great save system. So it mattered not a bit.

Max the Curse of Brotherhood is a fun little game. Puzzle platformers aren't really my thing, but it had a good level of challenge and a variety of puzzles to keep me interested for the about 8 hours it took me to beat.

Next up I'm finally going to get caught up on the Gears of War series with Gears 5.
