Mini-Review/Backlog Destruction Thread

Played through Devil May Cry 1 HD recently. Haven't played that game in so long but had played through several times so was easy going for the most part. It does really show its age though. Since it is short I decided to just jump into 2 right away which I only remember playing once. I don't even remember if I played DMC3 but that will be up next I think.

Just finished it today. Yeah, I don't understand a lot of the hate I see on the internet for this game. I thought it was awesome. I wish Visceral was still around so they could do a sequel.
Same here. I wouldn't mind getting a next gen Dead Space game either.

That's actually another series I've never played but it's on my to-play list now that I have Game Pass.
The first two games I can say are worth playing. If you are a fan of sci-fi and horror you will love it for the setting and story alone Think Aliens /Event Horizon meets The Thing crossed woth Resident Evil. The gameplay was pretty groundbreaking when it first came out as well.

I briefly started the third one awhile back but kinda got distracted and haven't been back into it. They went for kind of a Lost Planet vibe in the first part of the game that I didn't love. Its a good game though, and I'm sure it gets better later on.

Finished DMC 2. Lol another super short game. Only took like 4 hours to beat with Dante so just going to run through with Lucia quick before going to DMC3.

I wish I hadn't waited until now to start playing Final Fantasy XV. I probably won't finish it before it leaves Gamepass.
I might be able to finish this game in time after all - playing on easy mode and only focusing on the main missions is making this game go by quick.

Edit: Finished it in time! I didn't skip any cutscenes but I'm still totally confounded by the story. Like I have no idea what happened at the end.

About halfway through DMC3. Another one I think I only played once when it was on PS2. Definitely better than 2 so that is good.

More power to you. I didn't shift down the difficulty when I played it and didn't skip cutscenes either but it just never hooked me. I am going with the story difficulty mode for Jedi fallen order now though because I enjoy the game but the respawn times even on the ssd are the bulls*** of all bulls***s.

Finished up DMC3 and not bad. Still gotta go DMC1>DMC3>...>....>...>DMC2. Taking a break from the series for a while but already have DMC4 and the remake from PS+ so eventually will get to that. DMC5 I'll bother with once I get a PS5.

Finished Gears of War 4, now on to Resident Evil 7. Been wanting to play it for a long time and now seems like a great time to do it with all the hype around Village.

I don't play horror game. I play mostly Path of Exile these days.

Finished RE7 tonight. Wow, what a game. Easily the best game I've played all year (2020 included). Next up I'm going to play The Outer Worlds. Don’t really know much about it other than it was made by the same people of Fallout New Vegas; so good enough for me.

Whatever you do in Outerworlds, do not play melee build, its boring.

Half-Life: Alyx

Repetitive game and a bit too long, but overall captures the Half-Life magic and mystery. Nice ending and post-credits scene that sets up a sequel.

Star Wars Squadrons (VR)

Such a great game to play in VR. Story isn't much to write home about, but the thrill of flying these legendary ships is awesome.

Just waiting for my new gaming/work PC to arrived. Then I will probably play the Outriders free demo.

The Outer Worlds ✓

Was a good game, but ultimately I don't think it really lives up to its clear inspiration, Fallout. I never really felt attached to the story or the universe in the same way I do with Fallout. In the end I was actually glad it wasn't as big as Fallout so I could finish it faster. Would definitely consider playing a sequel though if it's on Game Pass.

Next up I'm finally going to play Alan Wake.

The dilaog can be funny, especially one on customer service, where employee A will tell you to go to B, then B tell you to g to A. Then if you are unhappy, you have fill out complaint leter, but then you have to B or something, It is funny because it mimic real life especially government agencies which are fill with the laziest, most "don't give a damn" people.

But the combat & other parts are quite boring, & they recycled too much assets. The RPG or character building part are paper thin with very little depth.

Yeah dialog was by far the best part. I also kind of liked the companion combat abilities, but everything else was, as you said, pretty boring.

Call me crazy but I went back and got sucked into Dragon Age Inquisition. Really was craving a big RPG and it is hitting all the right notes for me.

Finally finished it. Watched the short cutscenes in the credits on youtube. Good game, and the second epilogue finally paid off.

And also...the game never ends?! LMAO

I played the demo for Project Triangle Strategy. Loved it. It is very well suited for the Switch.... but if they follow the path Octopath Traveler set, its going to be on PC a year after the switch release. Decisions decisions.

Played some of Person 5 strikers on PC. All it did was reaffirm that Persona 5 on PC would sell like gang busters. Atlus and Sega arer sitting on a gold mine.
