Mini-Review/Backlog Destruction Thread

Finished these Game Pass titles:

Donut County: Fun and quick game.

Carto: puzzle game with slightly too much dialogue, but worth finishing.

I didn't get to play either of The Division games when they came out thanks to terrible internet.

I haven't opened the first game yet, but now I'm becoming more and more addicted to the second game. I haven't enjoyed a game this much since the N64/DC era. I knew I'd like the games since seeing the first one during E3 2015, but soon after learned it was an online only game. I want to play with others, but people usually annoy the F out of me and don't like talking with the humans. Hopefully I can get most of the way through the games solo.

I played the first game's campaign solo, had a great time. Don't think you need to be online? Maybe I'm wrong idk

Both Division games have "Internet Required" on the front of the game covers.

Essentially the only thing the single player requires internet for is the Safe Houses where you can see other peeps. IIRC you can also join in on select missions and stuff with random players if they're asking for assistance.

Either way, game was fun, but too much of a bullet sponge vibe and I quit playing after I hit level 30. Got my money's worth out of it though!

Played the Battlefield V campaign. Pretty pathetic. Especially after the decent BF1 campaign. VERY short. Clearly an afterthought. Though the multiplayer (which I tried out when it first launched) honestly felt like an afterthought as well. Felt like it was written by a 16 year old or something as well.

I've never played any of the campaigns except BC2, but I've heard BF1's campaign was actually pretty good.

I will say though that BFV is just kind of a terrible game all around. I played it a bunch when it launched, but found myself wanting to play BF1 instead.

Just finished Alien: Isolation (2014) on PC, and I gotta say, it has aged quite well. The visuals are superb and there are some fantastic sci-fi moments along with classic Aliens encounters. Very tense game, even on easy mode. The music and the sound effects are top notch! The whole game conveys the creepy and jarring Aliens atmosphere just perfectly. It was a visceral experience. Those jump scares were legit! I got rattled and shook lol

I played Path of exile for the past 2 months, but rage quit & give all my gamers away today. It has the best character theory crafting & gears, but some of the worse game design & gameplay.

You can get one-shot out of noway & dying means 10% exp lost & at a higher level, it can be hours or days played. End boss with Shtass "mechanics" bullet storm & memory game while chase by Bullet storm projectiles. which 90% of players failed. The worse thing about the boss fight is, it reset, no matter win or lose & you need to go 100 levels, & kill the level boss (100!), 10 special boss fight, where you fight 10 bosses in one go to engage again!
The shortcut is to buy the orb to open the portal, which costs the equivalent of 2-4 hours of hard currency farming.

Also if you want to craft high-end items, you need a discord account & join a server & use. 4 different Marcos. After playing, you have to remember to deactivate using......task manager.

Anyway, I am returning to ........Fortnite. Jesus, the game looks amazing ( like a pixel movie) in 4K & high-end PC.

Fine, why not change your name back when you're at it...

By the way, your favorite footballer & national icon Zlatan is an avid player of the beautiful game, Fortnite.

Haven't played it since release, please give update on how it holds up.
It's been a while since I said I was going to play Alan Wake but finally got some time to start it last week and just beat it today. I'd say it holds up extremely well. At no time did I ever feel like I was playing a 10 year old game. Simply put, the game is a masterpiece. It can get slightly repetitive with the same gameplay loop and environments (environments I actually liked though), but the story and atmosphere were great. I was hooked from the first minute.

Great to hear, might take a dip.

Dragon Age Inquisition has owned me for a while now. Nearing the end of the Jaws of Hakkon DLC and then will just have Trespasser to beat. Has been an absolutely epic and amazing journey, so glad I took the time to go back and play it.

Not sure what’s next! We’ll see.

On to the next game in the Kingdom Hearts series: KH: Re:Chain of Memories. Was a little nervous going into this one because I know it gets a bad rep due to the deck building gameplay, but so far I'm actually liking the gameplay style.

Playing the remake of Ratchet & Clank right now. Never played one but since it was on PS+ and the new one coming figured I'd give it a try. It started out really fun but last part of the game is kind of failing. Game seems to rely on cheese for artificial difficulty.

Just finished dragon age inquisition. Kind of rushed through the Trespasser DLC as I thought I was ready for it to be over after 80 hours, but it was worth it to do Trespasser just for the story. I know this game took a lot of s*** compared to the Witcher 3 which is one of its contemporaries and a superior game, but honestly I’m super glad I went back and played it and I think it might be one of my favorite RPGs.

I feel kind of sad now that it actually is over, knowing DA4 is years away at best.

Dragon age is good in its own right, like the ability to swap characters. Also the skill trees are better.

Yea. I had way more fun hunting for gear in DAI, and building out my party in their respective skill trees. I say that as someone who sank hours into Witcher 3, about 120 if I recall. Both offer different RPG experiences and both absolutely some of the best of last generation.

Finally finished AC:Valhalla. I had a long journey with this game. It was my launch XSX game and I'm just finishing it now in April.

The game is really good and really, really long. The story really worked for me overall, it just gets side tracked by so many different areas.

I love these Ubisoft games but my gosh, that's 6 months + of playtime.

Just finished up Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories. It's basically 2 games in one, first game took me about 25 hours and the second about 15 hours. I always see this entry in the series getting a lot of criticism but I really really liked it. Now I'm on to watch 358/2 Days and then I'm going to take another Kingdom Hearts break and play the Alan Wake DLCs.

Just finished up the two Alan Wake DLCs - just like the base game they were great. Definitely worth the 10 dollars or so that I spent.

Now I'm going to play Control. I wasn't initially interested in the game but after learning that it takes place in the Alan Wake universe, even if the references are extremely small; I'm interested.
