Mini-Review/Backlog Destruction Thread

I just finished RE 8. Great game, length is just nice for me. Spend about 5 dyas on the game in total.
I think I will be taking a break from new game unless my friendswanted to start Diablo 3.

I will stil play an hour or so Fortnite when my friends are online in evening.

I wanted to start working on my game again. The stroy writng part turned out to tbe the toughest part of development so far.

Finally can contribute to this thread again. FINALLY finished Assassins creed Valhalla (XSX). These games are getting longer and longer each release. Ubisoft for better or worse make sure you get your money's worth. Was surprised at the twists and turns in this one, especially the one at the end.

I just finished RE8 last night and it was fantastic. I also complained that they wanted to make it less scary but the game is much better for it. More varied locations, the combat improvements make the game more fun, and there is still just the right amount of horror and dread mixed in. Plus the graphics on XSX with raytracing are amazing, especially the lighting. 9.5/10 for me

Not sure this is the right thread, but I just ordered a Wireless XBOX SeX controller with USB receiver for PC.

I had a 360 controller (2 actually) with the wireless receiver (bought on amazon), but apparently due to the receiver is not OEM (did not even know that when I bought it), every time there is a window update, It need pain in the S to reconfigure & have to change some registry file which I never feel comfy.

So with my new rig, & that the 360 controllers are already old (over a decade) & the sticks gonna worse over the years (often clicking does not registered), & the issue of reconfiguring everytime there is a window update, I thought it time to upgrade. the 360 controllers are build like NMokia phone, hopefully the tradition continued for the new one.

I wanted some chill games, as it can be very stressful to after playing PvP (mostly fortnite) so I was looking at some chill games. I had sniper elite 4 & Hunter Call of the wild on my rader.

I was not willing to pay full price for sniper elite 4 (wait for discount oin steam), & I am not sure hunting game is my type (but the game environment is mind blowingly gorgeous, almost lke iRL), but huntng game is super chill, maybe too chill. So I decided to glace though all the free games from Epic store, & decided to try out hitman 2016.

I wasn't sold on the first mandatory turorial level ( & there are some bugs which add to the frustration), & to make things worse, after you completed the level, they force you to do again, but try different approach. But the game got better, after that.

Note to developers. AVOID tutorial levels, just have the game started simple, & integrate learning into actual levels.

The game does required patient & thank god, you can save anytime, & as many file as you like. The game is very chill, which is what I am looking for, I am looking forwatd to play more.

Just finished the main story of Control. Took me about 15 hours. This is definitely a case where game pass made it possible for me to find a great game. I know I wouldn't have played it otherwise and I would have really been missing out.

Now I think I'm going to do at least The Foundation Control DLC then I'm finally going to get around to playing Dragon Age 2.

I’ve been working my through this game I bought awhile back called Infliction Extended Cut. I’ve played a lot of horror games and I’m usually fine but this one is legit terrifying. I’ve been playing at night with headphones and I usually only make it like 20 minutes before I have to quit lol.

Finished Hitman 2016. It's a free game from the epic store. Great game. Feels like I am in a spy movie.

I am waiting for the Sherlock game to come out as my next game.

Edit: Damn, seems the game has been delayed to "2021" from June 6 or something, sigh. Oh well......

Playing Alien Isolation now, another free game from Epic store. The visuals are pretty dated (last-gen/last-gen cross-gen game) but the atmosphere is still pretty good. It's a space horror adventure game; find *Keys" to open new areas, hide from Alien (Xenomorph), read many documents that unfold past events. Almost like the game, I am making, minus a monster chasing you.

Normally I avoid horror game/ & shows, but so far so good, & I have no encounter the ALien yet. Maybe I will think differently when I encounter the Alien.

Alien isolation is great start to finish imo

Gave up on Alien Isolation. Often have to restart huge chunk of progress due to sparsity of checkpoints. There isn't even autosave at key points.

After losing 20mins of progress in the last session, decide to fk it. I am fan usually of stealth games lie dishonored, Hitman, but stealth + checkpoint system is a poor combination.

Nothing I hate more about a game then having to replay huge chunk of progress,

Anyway, after playing for like 3-4 hours, I think I have seen most of the game has to offer.

Just put it in easy and breeze through it, it's fun to use the alien against human enemies.

I pushed through a bit. Anyway, it not a game I can play for long. Taking a break & watching the Aliens movie (2nd one) now. Haven't seen the movie since I was a kid.

Look like it's time to play and finish Valhalla. I haven't gone far in the game. Just completed a major quest of dethroning one king and crowning another.

I can't believe how long it is, I'm about 75 hours in and will probably easily break the 100hr mark, I'm doing mostly the main story but there's always treasure you want to get in all the areas too. I am enjoying it though.

I beat Control Ultimate Edition this week from PS+ and enjoyed it.

Looking to beat Maneater this coming week before FF7 DLC / Ratchet releases, see if I can make it in time. Otherwise it'll be put on the back burner when those release.

Started playing World of Wacraft with my friends the other night. It's a blast but won't hold my attention forever. It's a grind lol
It amazes me a couple friends I know IRL that have put thousands of hours into that game. I had some fun with it many years ago when I played it with friends, but it takes wayyyy too much time to do anything so I lost interest. I liked my social life more at that time lol.

Haha well yeah that's why I don't see myself sticking around for the long term. You can pay $50 to boost your dude to level 58, which honestly I might do after I play around with it more this weekend. I just wanna get the hang of playing my warlock before I start jumping into end game type stuff.

I played it in high school and freshman year of college off and on, but my computer at the time was terrible and couldn't run it very well lol. Getting into Org would crash my PC at all times, so I had to go to my friends houses to turn in quests there lmao. It's been 14 years since I've played, but it's a fun nostalgia and I've been having a good time with it. Will not be sacrificing my social life to play a video game though.

Have you ever tried Elder Scrolls Online? I picked it up couple years ago on XBO and was pleasantly surprised. Found it to be one of the easiest MMO’s I’ve played to get into and it respected your time. I was just playing solo and had fun completing the quests and moving on through the game. Been meaning to go back to that game.

BC Classic? I’ve played on and off since launch, finally hung up the hat for good with the last two expansions being ass. Blizzard has gone down the drain.

Burning Crusade was some of the glory days of Wow though. I’ve been tempted to jump in and play Classic lmao, but I’m guessing it’s all nostalgia talking.

I did, didn't really like it tbh. Quests were broken and the game itself played weird.

Man, BC and WOTLK were the glory days. i didn’t really dig an expansion after those two until Legion, which may well be my favorite. The latest two sucked and made me hang it up probably for good.

What sucks is the game could still be really really good. I truly think Activision and the talent bleed are both killing Blizzard. I remember when their expansions launched chock full of content. Now they launch with bare bones features. Shadowlands was terrible. I dropped it after two weeks. Boring.

If they release WOTLK Classic holy hell I may jump in lol. BC was a pretty hardcore expansion with a huge time investment required and my life doesn’t allow for that anymore sadly.

Playing Spider-man Miles Morales on PS5. More of the same fromtthe original game which isn't a bad thing. I can see that as much as I like the dualsense haptics, I'm going to break a controller or 2 with it on. I can just feel like they're not going to hold up for an entire generation.

The sticks will go wonky first so it doesn't matter

Finally finished The Last of Us 2 on PS5. While I still maintain that it could have been a bit shorter in length, the game is a gotdamn masterpiece. An emotional roller-coaster from beginning to end. With some minimal texture work, this game could easily pass for a native PS5 game visually. As usual Naughty Dog's animation work is top notch. The story telling resonated pretty well with me. While playing, the overall message that kept ringing in my head was the old adage " He who seeks revenge digs two graves.” and throughout the game that proved true with the increasing body count of side and main characters. I also think they pulled off the dual protagonist thing pretty well. I was all aboard Team Ellie but as the game moved on, Abby grew on me given her backstory.

In my opinion the game deserved every GOTY award it received. I enjoyed it but given how dark and heavy the story is, I don't see a second playthough in my future. I think TLOU's world is still ripe for more stories but I think Abby and Ellie's story has reached its conclusion. I hope ND gives TLOU a rest for a bit, do something different like an Uncharted game ( with Chloe and Nadine) and eventually return to TLOU with brand new characters.

Sigh. I was enjoying Medium but the game keep hard crushing at the SAME spot. Others have the same issue as will, at the exact same spot. I haerd this issue is dominated for AMD 6000series cards...

Retuning to Forzan Horizon,. In Winter now.

Download Gear 4 last night,. Crazy 130GB!

Lots of fun. Play on hardcore. Took a while to get used to the control & the game give me a slight headache even if I am consistent 60fps. Maybe I need to adjust the motion blur a bit. I died quite a bit early on (but thanks to reviving only restarted once), but after some familiarity & keybinding tuning, it gets better.
