The create a stadium looks amazing. They need to make a pure arcadey game with that.

It isn't that complicated, kids play what their parents watch, and then grow up to watch the same sport. I played baseball, (American) football and hockey because that's what kids in my area played, and that's what was on TV all the time at home. I didn't "choose" the sport, it was just what I knew.

In my day, if it was summer in America and school was done, you grabbed your glove and headed to the nearest park. Summer was baseball/basketball, fall was hockey/football.

I would say too that there's almost nothing that compares to the feel of the ball hitting the sweet spot on the bat and pulling a shot over the fences (well, nothing you can do with your clothes on anyway).

Why is this coming out after the season starts?

Probably Covid + 4 new platforms. They also made more updates this year than the last couple years at least. Stadium creator, new pitching style, more fielding animations and looks like improved fielding. I'll post the Sony San Diego Videos. Looks like some good stuff.

Think we're like 2 weeks out now with early access. Finishing up a March to October run on 20 right now then retiring that game until this comes out.

My God how much money did they have to give Sony for that one

Or does Sony not publish the Xbox version?

This is great news. I was definitely going to pick this one up at launch anyway, now I can save $60.

The anger some have online over this is hilarious, Sony will make more money off of this franchise because it's going to appear on xbox so I don't get how this is supposed to be bad for them, they don't own baseball and didn't create it so it's not like god of war or Horizon going to gamepass lol.

Each year MLB the show sells a little over a million copies so it's not their biggest seller but it's a consistent one and probably doesn't require too much of an investment after the first or second year of a console generation transition. I'm sure they have to share a percentage with MLB per copy of the game sold on PlayStation on top of paying for the license so any money brought in beyond sales on their console is a good for Sony, it's not like very many people buy a playstation specifically for this series.

As far as gamepass, who cares? Sony isn't publishing it on xbox MLB is so Sony isn't promoting gamepass they'll just be making money from MLB for developing a game for them to publish so really MS will indirectly be paying Sony because someone has to pay them for the game they made to appear on xbox consoles.

Sony will make bank on stubs so they'll laugh all the way to the bank. I'll be sticking to PS5 version but it's a sports game so exclusivity doesn't matter to me on this. The more the merrier.

It’s a terrible look for Sony and shows the difference in value proposition between the consoles. It would not surprise me if this game, at least this year, gets more players on Xbox vs PlayStation as a result.

Glad Xbox only fans can now also experience this going forward. I know many baseball fans love this title.

Terrible look? why? they have said all along their first party games won't launch on PSNow on day one so nobody expects it. Most people who are interested in this will play on PlayStation because that's where they've always played it, they also aren't likely to have xbox consoles and even if they are interested in getting one MS is doing a terrible job at resupplying retailers right now, Sony isn't doing great but they are doing it far more often than MS so fat chance on people getting an XSX until any interest in this game is long gone, yeah they have the option of playing on an X1 but I highly doubt anyone is going to go pick that console up to play what will surely be the weakest version of the game available. You may get current xbox owners who just download it to try it but Baseball video games aren't terribly popular anyway, like I said Sony sells a little over a million copies each year, I highly doubt you get anywhere near that kind of number for xbox players with any kind of consistency.

BTW MLB forced this it wasn't Sony's idea, they either had to go with mulitplatform or lose the license, this way they get more money and have control over how the game is made etc.

In before MLB the Show isn’t a big deal and doesn’t sell anyway.....

I’m not one into sports, some games were fun when I first played them on Dreamcast... oh that table top tennis game was fun.

But I’ll give this game a try, whilst it’s on gamepass, if I like it I may buy it.

I think Sony came out with a win on this, they’re getting paid no matter what and where it’s on.

With it on GP they’re reaching out to those who don’t but as often or just those who like to try something new.

I bet this will be a huge seller on ps4, probably it’s biggest hold

The Show has been really good. And you can play retro mode if you want a simpler experience.

Yes it is a terrible look. Sony only fans should be demanding similar treatment. To have a tent pole exclusive to not only go multiplatform but also day 1 on Gamepass while PS players pay full price is quite a contrast.
