Banning Menace over that silly douche comment was a complete and total over reaction. I know we try to create an atmosphere of mutual respect here, but that's an outrageous decision and I'm asking for it to be revoked immediately.

I'm not removing it. Plainview can if he wants.
If you read the thread I originally edited his post and said please stop with the name calling. I didn't even call Menace out at first. Menace continued. I told him to stop. He kept on insulting a member repeatedly. Everybody deserves respect around here even if you don't agree with what they are saying. Name calling is a thing I have no tolerance for. I was bullied all through high school and called names and went through alot of self-esteem issues and I won't tolerate it here or in my personal life.

Respect others. Apparently calling someone out for insulting another member and then repeatedly warning them not to do it and they continue to insult is outrageous. I stick by what I did.

Also...Flynn himself was getting offended. I got about 5 messages in 5 minutes as to what was going on.
Oh...but I guess I'm just supposed to ignore what is going on and tell Flynn to 'deal with it.'
Insulting someone repeatedly is okay??

If it was anyone else I would have warned the member to stop...(as I did with Menance more then once). Menace refused. Continued to insult Flynn and so I banned Menace.

I didn't want to ban Menace, but he was insulting another member so much so that Flynn felt the need to message me repeatedly. If someone else is insulting another member I'm going to warn like I did and then take action even if it is the unpopular thing to do.

Issues with your personal life should not be reflected here. If you have trouble being a little objective then maybe being a mod is not the best choice you've made. You are on an Internet forum about video games. People are going to insult each other. Your job is to make sure it doesn't get out of hand. Calling some a douche is hardly the greatest personal insult that could be thrown around. I did read the thread. You shouldn't have edited his post. A pm warning should have been sufficient and then lock the thread because it's a flame bait thread anyway. I stand by my original comment. I don't want to argue with you here either so I probably won't reply any further. I've said my piece.

Okay. I can see what you are saying but at the same time I didn't say 'my personal life influenced my decision to ban Menace.' Flynn getting offended did though. So again I ask should I just have ignored a member who is obviously getting fed up with being insulted? Seriously?
My job is to make sure this site is ENJOYABLE for ALL MEMBERS. Maybe you missed the part where I said Flynn was getting offended. His feelings don't matter??
I don't have trouble being objective at all here. I've issued warnings to both sides of the line here and most members here would agree with that.

You said I should have issued him a pm warning. I didn't and instead I edited his post with a general warning to calm down with the name calling. HE CONTINUED TO INSULT FLYNN AFTER 2 attempts to resolve the issue. He even told me it was a matter of principle.
Sorry that doesn't fly with me. Repeated attempts to stop insults with another member getting offended and I should just let it slide? Nope. Not me.

As for locking the thread that wasn't necessary as others seemed to be having conversation that didn't resort to insults/name calling.

I stand by my decision.

Yeah. And a week ban is not an over reaction for calling some one a douche? Seriously ? Hopefully PV still bring some common sense to this situation.

Cooling off assumes I was heated in the first place. Which I wasn't. I just calls em as they act. In this case, claiming something was downgraded after going to great lengths to tell people it wasn't game-play, or even real time, is idiotic, stupid, brainless, and straight up trolling.

The ban was lifted as the initial post I don't feel warranted a ban. Not for a week at least. I feel a warning with points would have sufficed. Living made a request to stop with the insults in the thread. That should have been accepted and the insults should have stopped right then and there. menace was wrong with claiming the insults was on principal and Living was wrong with the weeks ban and editing the post. All were at fault here to a degree, including Flynn.

I would have accepted it if TLT had the common courtesy to PM me and say he felt it wasn't needed and could I remove it.

Plus, if you are going to let posters run around with all their nonsense and stupidity, then you should be prepared to accept people calling them what they are.

Anyway, I honestly do not care. Ban me for week, or don't. Perma ban me, whatever.
 
I just think not enough people are getting banned, not like the TXB days anyway.

I'll admit I probably over reacted a bit.
I should have gone about it a different way.

I've over-reacted as a mod myself. It's easy to have happen, especially during a busy, heated period like E3. Takes courage to admit a mistake.
