Skyrim

This game is gathering dust so to speak in my Steam library. I have put a whole 2 hours into it. The game is impressive and truly gorgeous, but I was bored out of my mind. I plan to give it another try at some point.

Same boat. Just could not get into it. I have like 8 hours play time in it.

Still an amazing game that's held up very well thanks to mods.

I saw this on rock paper shotgun earlier today. I was really excited but sadly, they at verion 0.9 I think that apart from the geometry and stuff, not much else is there (quests, etc). Definitely something to watch for, though!

Nice, and when I thought I was finished with Skyrim.

Is this Morrowind, the original game, but adapted to the Skyrim engine?

Yeah, the FAQ says this:

"3. Q: Will Skywind be complete with quests, or will it only feature the Morrowind landscape?

A: As of now, Skywind mostly just consists of landscape and static meshes, but we are currently working on getting all of the quests, npcs, weapons, creatures, etc. working correctly, and they should all be available by the final release. Remember though that we have a limited team, and if you want to see a particular feature faster then join and help work on it."

Not to poo-poo it or anything -- I think it looks great, and my first reaction was a sort of stunned amazement -- but there is a big difference between "mostly landscape and static meshes" and a living, interactive world full of characters, weapons, creatures, and quests. There is a lot of work to be done yet.

So it would be the Morrowind setting, characters, and quests, but with Skyrim mechanics? I'm not sure I understand how that will work, since Morrowind was so different. At first I thought this was just a remake of Morrowind, with better graphics, but if it's Morrowind in a Skyrim framework -- not just graphics but game mechanics and all -- then that's very different.

Isn't there already a Morrowind mod for Morrowind that pimps out the graphics? Is this just applying Morrowind style visuals to Skyrim? I can't say that I understand the goals of this mod.

Yeah, I'm a little confused, too.

It's a skyrim mod, so it makes morrowind using skyrim engine. The morrowind mod you're referring to is just a visual mod for morrowinds old engine.

So it's Morrowind content, but Skyrim mechanics? Wouldn't it lose something in the translation? For instance, in Morrowind, you had to explore everything on foot and figure things out yourself, and quests could be ambiguous. In Skyrim, it was (like most modern games) "go here, do this" -- pointers, compass, detailed directions, etc. Also, the levelling up and skill systems worked very differently in Morrowind, and there were a lot more magic options. Wouldn't they lose something, squeezing all that breadth into the Skyrim mechanics, which were considerably simpler?

Instead of posting all the screenshots in the screenshots thread I will posts some more here:

Used many different mods together, followed instruction about adding voice, but do not get voice at all, however music is nice (original Morrowind music). Have an error some places where wall turns blue, this happens if indoors in building or cave and go close to wall.
Some textures seems a bit off.

Enemies missing, sow far have not encountered any Dreugh, however as it is still in early state and they are such a small team this could take time.

Some quests as I said in the screenshot thread is able to complete (if did not would not be able to explorer the world).

Fps does drop very much around Ebonheart, I do believe I had some trouble with this in normal Morrowind too (with a much older computer ), but not this much, going from 30 fps sow low as 5 fps.
I do have many mods installed sow maybe if I did uninstall some I would get better fps, however for most part it keeps around 30 fps, some smaller drops now and then.

Edit: Says it is Alpha version, sow just gone give it time to get improved on.

Late to the Bethesda party...well recently(I did play Morrowind on PC when it first came out..)

Anyway I got around to Fallout 3 late last summer and played through all the DLC(GOTY ed) and then did Oblivion GOTY edition.
Finally got around to my SKYRIM Legendary edition(bought it in Jan!)

Holy smokes! I love this game. The subtle refinements make it so much more fun than Oblivion(for me) and its very immersive. Right up there with Fallout 3 for me as close to holy crap 6 hours flew by and now I am gonna be late to work....

Got it on steam and its one of my favorite rpgs next to fallout 3, mass effect, fallout nv. Going to try modding my game since i have it on pc now and see what i can do.

I still haven't even played one second of it yet, and this is coming from a guy who put over 200 hours into Oblivion years ago. Oblivion is a top-3 game of the generation for me, so I have no doubt I'll lose my mind over Skyrim. Heck, I must be nuts already for putting it off this long; I can hardly believe it myself. I do have the 'Legendary Edition' on 360, but there have been lots of other games in my backlog that I've been trying to play-through first before throwing my life away for months in Skyrim. One day the time will be right, and it will be epic.

I have it as well and haven't played it yet. I'm really looking forward to it when I do get time to play it.

I still love it. get it a few months ago on 360 when it was super cheap for the DD version then got the expansions too. I put like over 200 hours and only done like what maybe 5 quest in the mean storyline HA. I've let it sit for like 2 months now but will go back to it for sure.

Forking great game.

Skyrim it an all around great game period. You just need to put in the time needed to fully enjoy this game otherwise you will just be wasting your time if you are going to put a few hours into it .

I haven't touched mine in a minute but I'm sure I've put a little over 100 hours of gamaplay. Once you get into it it's like crack...

Listen here I loved Oblivion. Hit about 100 hours in it for one play through which for me is a long ass time. Fallout 3 and New Vegas are also both awesome games and really looking forward to a new one. That said I have no interest in playing Skyrim. Maybe it's the time commitment I know will be required but honestly I think I'm just not interested in that type of RPG. I just beat Bound by Flame, currently playing Demon Souls followed by both Dark Souls, love the Witcher games, and want to play games like Dragon's Dogma, Kingdom of Amalur, and the new Dragon's Age. But I just can't seem to care about missing out on Skyrim. It really doesn't make sense but there it is. Thanks for listening.

Then again if the super collection of it is on sale during the Steam summer sale I would probably still buy it. Lord Gaben is an a******.

I'm over 140 hours played now (360) version and still have not completed main quests, only 1 guild, and have not started both DLC's yet. Game is huge!

If you have any questions about modding throw me a line.
Modding Fallout 3/Fallout NV/Skyrim is my forte.
