I missed it to. Pre-ordered but to busy with my stupid job.

Even if I took my laptop, I don't think I would have had time.

Oh well, I enjoyed seeing Beta footage and hearing speculation on who else will be on the Roster.

One interesting theory tossed out is that Chronika resetting history will affect how the Cyber Initiative starts(hinted at with a state background?) I think originally Smoke was Cyber-ized before Raiden tried to change history and led to Cyber Sub-Zero. I heard a YouTuber suggest Chronika wants armies that might include Shao Kahn's Outworld army, Liu Kang's Netherrealm forces, and a new Cyber Lin Kue led by a Cyber-ized Frost.

It sucks I have to wait almost a month to play this dammit, but it will be a great game for me to mess with during my off time.

Ugh! That new character does NOT look like a Mortal Kombat character! Obviously just a first impression, but... WTF? We need more dark/KOOL/Kung FU inspired looking characters in MK. That looks like something out of Overwatch or something...

She looks like Swamp Thing's significant other.

Eh. Still doesn't fit, imo. Honestly one of the least interesting characters so far.

Needs some more hips too, if you ask me ;)

Her abilities interest me but I'm not too excited about her either, especially when you see how cool Noob Saibot looked just a week and a half ago.

Yeah, especially disappointing in light of how sweet the last several reveals have been.

She is next level in power.

I am very intrigued with the character. Bits of Raiden, Poison Ivy, Tremor, Sub-Zero, and Scorpion in one.

Also makes me think of The Enchantress mixed with The Atom.

Exactly. She looks like she belongs in Injustice, not MK.

Yeah I thought injustice when I saw her fatality.

I actually was so not interested that I didn't even watch it originally. I watched it after you said that and it cements my impression even more... Missed opportunity, IMO. Doesn't fit.

I kind of like her because she doesn't fit. The story for MK11 is total chaos. I mean you could say the same for Chronika and to some extent Geras resembling INJUSTICE characters.

Also, what MK fans playing INJUSTICE 2 have ever wanted to finish with a Fatality? So maybe in a way you can here.

I'm also a long time Raiden fan obviously and I think he exists between these 2 extremes of MK or seemingly INJUSTICE 2 style characters as a God entering the fray by self Nerfing.

I suppose another odd thing is the cool more old school characters have mostly physical attacks making it more personal, so it might seem weird to have this character who is minimal on punches and kicks with no weapons versus heavy sorcery attacks.

Of course, it remains to be seen how Shang Tsung will play aside from his expected shape shifting.

Or..... who remembers this?

The more I watch the trailer the more I appreciate what's gone into her, she is an elder god so we can hardly expect her to look like the rest of the characters. I still think her fatality is a bit silly though, that beam should have been way bigger when it hit Jade lol.

I wouldn't count on Shang shapeshifting too much, I think in MK9 he could only turn into the opponent, I know there are some technical limitations now that they didn't have back with the old games that make that too hard to pull off.

MK is going to have goofy Fatalities.

I really don't like Raiden's first, but his second is cool and I like that dead look in his eyes after their head is blown off.

As for Shang Tsung, I didn't play MK9. It is curious that he has the MK1 look though so I wonder we're he fits in.

Raiden at least has some kung fu flavor. Chronica and Geras still seem ok for some reason, though I agree they are leaning a bit more Injustice. I'd rather the games be more distinct from each other from a design perspective, tbh...

New Kombat Kast on Friday, they'll be going over Noob and two other characters.

Animations are part of the package.

Guilty Gear on PS4 looks and moves better as does SFV.

It depends on what animations your talking about. Is this refering the the character motion like the fight stances that someone was complaining about? Or does animation refer to the particle FX or in MK's case blood spatter? Or lighting and shadow from swaying lanterns or torches in the background?

The characters themselves might be original models imported into the engine. I guess it could be said that it's up to the engine to handle this, especially for decent facial expressions and speech, but I'd wonder if that falls more on the 3D artists regardless of the engine.

Not when you are talking about the engine they don't. There is nothing their engine (highly modded UE3) doesn't do that a "newer" engine is doing. Your comment about the engine being dated as if it's having a negative impact is patently absurd.

It's an arbitrary use of a term that doesn't apply to this game. You use it to diminish it for some reason, but for whatever reason you are dissing it for, the engine is doing its job wonderfully.

The style of the animation has nothing to do with the engine.

Guilty Gear uses UE 3 and SFV uses UE4, lol. They do not look better, imo at least. Haha, dated.

Lol. So dated!

For the record, I really like the look of GG. SF is ok...

No need for the record type statements in this convo.
Mk 11 looks almost identical to Mk X and the animation looks like people who drank a red bull after doing a line of coke.

It's not though as all of Nevergoods games look similar and use UE 3.
GG looks and moves way better/makes better use of the engine.
SFV is a generation better FACT

I can't even, but hey; opinions. I am, however, of the opinion that you sir, are blind.

Sometimes you exaggerate so much to try to make your point that it ends up making all of what you are trying to say seem silly. MK11 is a huge leap beyond MKX, the character faces, the textures, the lighting etc all are highly improved as are the animations. You are fixated on the engine and totally ignore what we can all see with our own eyes, it looks so much better than any fighting game that uses UE4 it's not even close, hell you need a PS4 Pro just to get 1080p on tekken 7, there's that UE4 for ya huh? lol. BTW the only fact about SFV is it has the worst art style in the series and looked dated when it launched, the character faces are ugly as hell and the over done screen effects are ridiculous.
