MS Surface

After about 18 months of Windows Phone, today I bought Nexus 5X, unless the stock was out in case I didn't know. I am happy to get to full speed with my daily messangers, but then again, some of the independent devs are doing wonders in Windows platform, so I'm kinda sad. Windows is still my favorite mobile OS for many reasons but I just needed Android to get through life. I'm not throwing away my 640 any time soon though, I want to use it as an Insider program tester and some light duty use.

Due a free upgrade in a couple months.

Its either wait to see if they go with the Surface phone or the new Samsung while keeping my 950xl for music and so on. Finally finding myself missing some apps and the official ones windows have need to some loving.

I'm up for renewal in November 2017. Hoping that the Surface phone will be out and that they'll actually carry it at Verizon if it is.

MS really need to make the phones available to all rather than this exclusive crap

Upgrading existing Windows Phone 8.1 devices to Windows 10 Mobile

Today, we’re pleased to begin the roll-out of Windows 10 Mobile to select Windows Phone 8.1 devices.

Consistent with our approach to the Windows 10 PC upgrade, we are focused on delivering a high quality experience for our customers. The Windows 10 Upgrade Advisor app can be downloaded from the Windows Store to see if the upgrade is available for your device.

You can see the current list of Windows Phone 8.1 devices that are supported for the upgrade to Windows 10 here.

Phones and devices that can upgrade to Windows 10:

Lumia 1520, 930, 640, 640XL, 730, 735, 830, 532, 535, 540, 635 1GB, 636 1GB, 638 1GB, 430, 435, BLU Win HD w510u, BLU Win HD LTE x150q, MCJ Madosma Q501

This list includes a limited set of Windows Phone 8.1 devices and does not include some devices that are currently running Windows 10 Mobile in the Windows 10 Mobile Insider program. As Windows 10 delivers significant new innovations, many older devices are not able to successfully upgrade without an impact on the customer experience. Our goal is to only offer the Windows 10 upgrade to devices that we are confident can continue to deliver a good customer experience.

Wait, HP making phone? Next thing you know, Apple selling Diapers.

Too bad that HP phone is for business customers only. Look really nice.

Well, I finally dumped my lumia 920 for a Moto X Pure. I'm going to miss my lumia cause it was a solid phone to get work done with. It does alot of things very well. But it was overheating alot and crashing as well as the app store being severely limited. I'll be interested to see if MS stays in the phone business with a surface phone or just cut their losses.

That sumbitch got more than 60% more pixels than a 4k monitor. Get 'r' done!

A simply amazing piece of equipment. I'm astounded by it. Take note Apple, this is what the iMac needs to be. Microsoft is kicking ass with computing recently. It's quite expensive. I was seriously looking at a Cintiq. I may completely abandon Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign on the Mac completely for this thing. I'm just amazed by it.

Full reveal.

Yeah that vid is mesmerizing. Apple's stuff looked sh*tty today in comparison.
I never would've thought I'd ever say Microsoft has the edge over Apple on innovation...but right now it's no contest.
Hooray for competition!
It's out of joy price range but based on this, and the MS conference yesterday, I really can't wait to see what they do with Scorpio.

i am an apple fan, have been for many years and not owned a windows PC since 1997 but i am really considering getting this.
I was very disappointed yesterday with the apple event, i honestly thought they would bring out an 'iMac Pro', 64GB ram, at least 6GB GPU etc etc but nothing.......
only thing i think is the surface studio could have a 6gb gpu, but it does look amazing and seems pretty powerful.
i will game on it if i get one but mainly for editing/3D work, (prem pro, after effects, photoshop, blender, cinema 4D etc) so for that, i think it'll be great.

You do realize you can get those programs on PC, right? I'm just sayin', because I have met more than one Mac person that thought PCs didn't, lol.

I've been eyeballing a Cintiq as well, but I need a new computer, and I don't really use it for gaming. This- if the on-screen feel can match a Cintiq- would be heaven. The adjustable screen looks perfect (apparently it's "zero-G") and that Dial Control is tweakin' my giblets to the nth degree!

I'd have to be in for the Top model (4 grand). I just can't see getting a studio workstation with only 8 gigs of RAM. My 5 year old PC has 16 and that's not enough, damnit!! That top on though... 32 gigs RAM, i7, GTX 980M with 4 gigs VRAM! $4,200... *faints*

Also not super happy with adobe (mainly AE) and their lack of support for AMD cards, i read that AE performs wayyyyyy better and faster with Nvidia cards.
Yeah, Adobe (and AutoDesk) need competition very Badly. Don't get me started on Photoshop. The Prices are absolutely ridiculous. The good news is that Freeware is starting to catch up. I'm amazed at what blender can do for opensource software. There are more and more reasonably price drawing applications being released as well.

I don't think these companies should be charging more than a one time 300 bucks (then one time optional update DLC or something). Especially since each iteration is so damn similar. It's like friggin' Madden. They charge it because what else are you gonna do...

Of course lol. If money was no object, I'd have it day one. I'll always have a Mac. Hell, I have the OG Mac Pro 1,1.

I much prefer Autodesk funnelling their time and energies into holding conferences in Vegas that I somehow get to attend, rather than having to deal with competition, but that's probably because I'm a developer with a company that has a small share of our business tied up in delivering our product inside an AutoCAD OEM product (and as a plugin for non-LT users).

This looks less ideal for home computing and more appropriate for art/web design, architecture, etc. Still awesome.

If I was in any of those fields I'd be forwarding that video to my boss right now.

re Adobe CC i think i pay around £38 a month for the whole package and i get Prem Pro, AE, PS etc the whole bag which is awesome.
i claim this back through my business as i use it a lot for work as i shoot a lot of pre viz action concepts for the projects i am working on. i normally work out a sequence with my team, shoot and edit it and using a combo of AE, blender, Element 3D, mocha etc i add VFX and CGI.
it makes it a little easier rather than pausing the video and telling the director and stunt coordinator, 'ok this is where the creature blasts through the wall' i can actually show it smashing through the wall and leaving a big a$$ hole and debris everywhere lol
makes my life a lot easier :)
the studio will be amazing for me, rotoscoping and using pen tool/paint etc will be great.

i was a little disappointed with Mac this year, i have a 2010 27in iMac and its awesome but need more power now. i used a 2015 MBP for work and thats great but i was hoping for a iMac pro, an iMac with some serious firepower like 64gb RAM and 6GB GPU
i would have liked the surface to have at least a 6gb gpu........

Still can't find any release date for studio in the U.K.
Got a feeling that a new iMac is on the horizon, but I love that you can draw on the screen of the studio, for after effects and photoshop etc this will be fantastic (masking, rotoscoping, clone tool etc)
I honestly don't know what to do now lol as I have a feeling the next iMac will have killer specs, prob why they are holding off to see what MS throws in the ring.
